Why not a Buick Kappa?
Alright I know I am going to hear the internal competition argument here. But really why not make a Buick kappa with a 3.9 HV V6, we know it will fit or a supercharged 3.9 and a hard top? You could charge about $28,000 for a base model with it coming pretty loaded and sell an Ultra with the 3.9 supercharged v6 or the 3.6 HF V6 and charge $32,000. Seriously it would help fill capacity at Willmington AND it would lower peice cost due to increased volume. Key competitors would be the Chrysler Crossfire and Audi TT.
Heck this idea just came to me style it after the Velite OR make it retro styled after late 40s Buicks. Any comments or suggestions guys? Possibly a photoshop of some kind? |

Re: Why not a Buick Kappa?
I would much rather see a Cadillac Kappa.
While I agree, retro may be he ONLY way to go for Buick, Kappa is not the right platform for Buick. Velite on Zeta is the only way to go for Buick.

Re: Why not a Buick Kappa?
As much as I like Buick, I would prefer to see a kappa Cadillac over a Buick, it just doesn't seem to fit in with Buicks image (or the image they are trying to give it). Now a Art & Science styled kappa, which they could call BLR, with either the 2.8L, 3.6L, and a Turbo 3.6L for the BLR-V. It could be an entry level XLR
. Better materials, power top, and stuff like that, priced from $30k-$50k. Now that would be hot .David

Re: Why not a Buick Kappa?
If Caddy got a kappa, then why have the XLR? Two roadsters under the same roof? Maybe the next generation XLR could be on an enlarged Kappa of some sort, but one is enough. The Corvette based platform is probably better than the kappa.
I agree with the other guys, a roadster wouldn't make sense for Buick. Lets see, a mid-large sedan, a large sedan, a crossover SUV, and a 2 passenger roadster? What Buick really needs is a luxury, full size, rwd, five passenger coupe, with a chrome waterfall grill, and optional convertable top. The name should start with a "Vel" and end with a "ite". ![]()

this man knows what he's talking about .this arguement about 'if cadi has the kappa coupe why have the XLR?" is SOO stupid. has anyone heard of the Mercedes SL?? perhaps the Mercedes SLK? THIS WOULD BE A GOOD MOVE FOR CADI AND WOULD MAKE HUGE COMPETITION FOR MB!!! just my 2 sense -camroman22

If Caddy got a kappa than it would only have 3 sedans and 2 roadsters. I think Caddy needs a few more cars in their line-up before they get another roadster.

Re: Why not a Buick Kappa?
This would be good for Buick, because I couldn't picture it as a Cadillac, and it could still go up against the TT, SLK, Z4, etc. It would bring Buick upmarket and help it achieve it's goal as becoming the American equivalent of Lexus.
When I first read this I was reminded of the 1988-1991 Reatta. A small, sub-Corvette/Allante roadster. |

Re: Why not a Buick Kappa?
No Kappas for Buick or Cadillac. Buicks are supposed to be big cars, and have no business being in compacts. Besides, GM will have to be really stupid to give every division a kappa.

That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland |

Re: Why not a Buick Kappa?
I think a Kappa Reatta would be mint, it could compliment a Zeta Coupe (Gran Sport).

Re: Why not a Buick Kappa?
Kappa is not flexible enough to be anything other than a small sports car. I believe I have read that putting anything larger than a 4 cylinder in Kappa would adversely affect handling.
