Re: What is the plan at Buick?

The dealership experience IS very important.. Take a look at my local Lexus dealership (Palm Beach):

There are much better pictures but I can't find them online. These don't even do the dealership justice...

And here's the service area of JM Lexus a couple of towns away:

The vehicles themselves are only a small part of luxury cars. Buick has made very meaningful strides, but they still have a long way to go if they seriously want to compete with Lexus.

Thats what a premium luxury car dealership should look like. Cadillac needs to be stand alone dealers with a premium experience if they aspire to be 'The Standard of the World" again.

Not really, this was pretty bad taste. Reminds you of a Marriott or something like that. I am instincitvely looking for signs like "over 60s only" and "gratis coach roofs". GM needs a Cadillac-Saab-Hummer dealership standard that is not as space-consuming, pretentious and expensive to outfit, yet conveys a "premium" and "contemporary" appearance.

Every brand should have a "corner", with Saab focusing on the airplane theme, simplicity and technology, Cadillac on its sporty image and heritage, and Hummer on the off-road stuff.

About the only pic I could find of a rather befitting European Cadillac-Corvette store

I agree. I think the Lexus dealer pictured looks like it was sourced from Home Depot. But many Americans think that's fabulous. I am afraid though it is much better than most American Cadillac dealers.

Like so many GM brands, so many dealerships have accumulated over the decades (all highly protected by state franchise laws). GM's market share has declined by a similar amount and those dealers are living on far reduced sales numbers. This leave precious little profit left to remodel.

Generally (in America), that's what people with a lot of money like. You're looking for "over 60s only" signs because (again, generally) older people are the ones with money.

Re: What is the plan at Buick?

There is money and there is money. There is Florida Design and there is Architectural Digest. I believe GM should better reposition itself with the latter, as the latter won't shop with the former, whilst it does work the other way around. And the old folks that would buy a GM car do so anyway even in GM's crappy dealerships.
