What Buick Should Be.

I was reading my Car and Driver today and when I saw the Infiniti EX 35. Buick should have a competitor to this in a small theta-epsilon based vehicle. It would be the perfect vehicle to resurrect the Rendezvous name on. It has neat touches like the jacket hook in the headrest and to many cameras to count. Buick should have all of these and then some. The EX is only 62" tall so it is more of a hatchback than a crossover. This shortened stature could afford the Buick greater distinction from its platform-mates. In the powertrain department something like a 3.2 DI would provide confident power without upsetting any drinks in the cabin. With the Enclave style and sophistication on this and the replacement for the LAX Buick will back in the game.

Re: What Buick Should Be.

They are already working on a Theta based CUV, it will look like a smaller baby Enclave

NoNameDenton's right... one's on the way!

I just wish there was a small Buick 7-seat crossover right now! I'dve bought one already!

They also need one about the size of the CX-7 with a turbo inline 4

Re: What Buick Should Be.

So GMC is getting the Terrain and Buick is getting the same truck with different styling?

DOES GM FOLLOW IT'S OWN RULES...EVER?

Well, let's see, I am sure the interiors will be very different, the sheetmetal will be different and the engines and suspension will be tuned differently.

Re: What Buick Should Be.

Since GM is selling 6 Acadias to every 4 Enclaves on the same lot, I am sure it is hoping to repeat that Mojo on the new smaller CUV.

Re: What Buick Should Be.

I was not really talking about a smaller baby enclave but more of a tall hatch/wagon rather than just another CUV. That is where the EX 35 comes in as it is not very SUV like, but rather more carlike with some of the utility that a crossover affords. GM seems to be getting better at non-rebadges, however in the true form of platform sharing this could be made totally different.

Since the Acadia was supposed to be the mainstream vehicle of the line up, that is not suprising, GM always expected to sell the Acadia in greater numbers then the other two that was the plan

EX is a crossover...

I don't understand having the Acadia and Enclave in the same lot.

Chevy can have the "cheaper" cross overs and traditional trucks.
(Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche, Colorado and Silverado)

GMC covers the upsclale Trucks and SUVs.
(Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra, Canyon, Denali) Thats right now acadia or torrent.

Buikc sells the Upscale Enclave and a TE based Crossover.

The Acadia and Eclvae appeal to different sets of customers, since they have different sheetmetal and interiors

I was under the impression that Buick's will be on the SWB Theta, like the Vue and Captiva, while the GMC will be bigger, on the LWB Theta. Not that it's a HUGE difference, but maybe it's enough for customers to see the Buick as a "compact" and the GMC as a "midsize".

What Buick Should Be...

How about a couple simple requests.

1. Premium interior materials including thick carpet and top grade cloth / leather (the cloth interior I saw in a Lucerne recently was unacceptable).

2. I think they did away with plastic wheel covers at Buick and they should never be allowed again.

Agreed. Basically the stripper trim level should be none existent here. If you cannot afford a well optioned quiet near-luxry/luxury vehicle, buy something else. Cheapskates not welcome.
