Spy Shots: Production Provoq, a.k.a. the Cadillac BRX

With the introduction of the Cadillac Provoq Concept at CES last week, we believe the design of Cadillac's upcoming little CUV is quite out of the bag. Compare these spy shots of what is believed to be a Cadillac BRX prototype to our shots of the Provoq Concept from this week's Detroit Auto Show. Pretty similar, right? This leads us to the conclusion that the Provoq Concept essentially is the BRX.

I wonder. The upper-rear door window frame isn't like the concept which was supposedly the production sheet metal.

It doesn't look anything like the Provoq.

The windows are wrong and the roofline is wrong. I'd say this is something else entirely.

I agree. Perhaps this is the Saab version? Either that or the BRX will look nothing like the Provoq.

You know what, it could be the Equinox replacement or it's GMC sister. They're both scheduled to debut sometime this auto-show circuit. And those look like GMC rims.

My money is on a brand new Equinox...Maybe its just me, but in that open grill area, it looks like you can outline a bow tie.
The headlights dont look to fit the Caddy. The whole look of the car is wrong. Nothing on the car looks Caddy, but sure has some Chevy lines to it.

Yeah, I'd agree. It's an Equinox or the new GMC. You can see what appears to be a bar in the grill ala Chevrolet.

BTW, the front door looks exactly like the current Equinox.

The Traverse is on the Lamda platform. As I understand it, the Traverse will be a little smaller than the other vehicles on the platform (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but it wouldn't be as small as the vehicle in these photos. I was wrong thinking it was the Traverse.

Re: Spy Shots: Production Provoq, a.k.a. the Cadillac BRX

Here's another question: How do we know this even is a GM vehicle? For all we know, this could be yet another Toyota Crossover or a Ford.

It probably is a GM car, but when I see spyshots of some cars, I wonder how people even know what they are given that there are no badges or anything. For example, if you were to see the following prototype on the street, how would you know what it was?

It has something to do with where the picture was taken. Notice the street sign reads "Milford Avenue". This intersection may be close to GM's testing facilty.

Re: Spy Shots: Production Provoq, a.k.a. the Cadillac BRX

I'm guessing this was mistaken for a Cadillac based on the shape of the front grill cutout in the camo. But it's most likely not a Cadillac -- in addition to what others have noted already, it's missing the characteristic wide center-mounted brake light.
