So, I dropped by my favorite Cadillac dealership to pick up plates for a recently purchased vehicle. While there, my favorite Cadillac salesman decides he wants to torture me by offering to let me drive a CTS-V, (i.e. something he knows I'm in no position to buy at the moment).

Perhaps he thought it would be fun to watch me drool and ache over something I couldn't have--not to mention the fact that I was already late for work; but whatever the reason, I obviously wasn't going to turn down the enthusiastic invitation.

So, my quick take (FWIW):

* Fast, really really fast. Unlike the underwhelming feeling I had when I drove an M5 for the first time, this vehicle lived up to its horsepower rating.

* Seats more firm than my CTS. We all know this, but there's no mistaking that these seats are firm.

* Really touchy clutch. My CTS is a stick, so I was used to driving a CTS with a manual tranny. Even with that, I promptly popped the clutch and stalled the car as the first order of business once I took the wheel.

* Interior almost identical to my CTS. Another thing we already know, but the lack of distinction sort of lowered the price in my mind. Not that my CTS is cheesy, but for the extra $10K or $15K, something in my subconcious won't allow the interior to be almost exactly like what I already have.

Well you're forgetting the wonderful rumble of an LS6 in the interior, rather than the more pedestrian V6. I call that an interior upgrade!

Good point. That, and the upgraded slamming of my head against the interior headrest when I press on the interior accelerator. B)

I went to the dealer one day... and I just wanted to pick up a brochure.
And they just happened to have a V sitting in teh showroom (Burlingame Cadillac in the Bay Area). I sat in it... gorgeous black leather seats with white stitching (matches my wallet) haha... and he asked if I wanted to test drive it.

I was more surprised that they were allowing people to drive the V's!!
This is the most powerful car and fastest car I've ever driven. I purposely don't drive stick all that much... not with the nasty hills in SF...

As much as I like the V... I can't buy it.... not because I don't want it... but because this car will put me in jail and get my license suspended!!!!! :roflmao:

The 3.6 V6 is hardly a pedestrian piece of machinery. It's darned good goods.
