Ordering CTS's

Funny thing, my dad was ordering new CTS's for his dealer and they wouldn't allow him to order the new DI V6 w/ the 304hp? Funny thing huh? I love when GM has all these new things and they can't give them to the public when they should, unreal. It's a new engine why not have it because I know it will sell.

Also, with the DTS and STS the new side blind zone alert and the lane departure warning you can only order very very few cars with it?

Guess they gotta save the short numbers of nice cars for everyone, silly GM

Great, just great. Were these customer "sold" orders or just stock? Hopefully if a customer wants to order one that will go through.

I've read elsewhere that the DI motor has indeed been produced and shipped in the first wave of CTS' built.

Yes it has, as I know two people who have ordered them with the DI V6 and should have them very soon. The only constraint I believe one ran into was the wood for the steering wheel & shifter, as part of a package, not being available to produce after the order was submitted. Not a worry, and seems like usual early build constraint issues, which get sorted out quickly.

Haven't heard anything about the DI engine, though. Only thing I can think of is he's just trying to order a model where it's not available, option/model wise.

You can get the DI with AWD. Any I think you can get the DI with the base suspension as well.

Correct, I stated that wrong. It's no AWD with the top FE3 DI model.

Still, as they've already built STS's with the same engine, and there's a ton of CTS's ordered with the engine, I wonder if it's really on constraint or there was some other foible in the ordering process.

Re: Ordering CTS's

The only delays now are related to the manual transmission and the 17" painted wheels.

Thanks for the link. Looks like some good stuff. Although I have to question why the B20 wood package is not listed on constraint? Every car built so far omits that.

Hopefully the constraint on the 17in wheels last all year - those things are butt ugly!
