Re: Next Generation CTS???

Of course, will still have New York and Chicago, and I heard somewhere that there will be another LA show later in the year, but I think DuSpinnst is right about it being next year.

But then again, all those cars have "fart burners" on them. That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)
So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland

Re: Next Generation CTS???

I can't wait to see it. But it doesn't go in to production until the late summer of next year, so I wouldn't expect to see it in the flesh until next years' Detroit show. Spy pics may start to surface by this summer. They have to go out and test it in the real world sooner or later! But, there is no reason for GM to show it any earlier. Sales of the current car are still VERY good ( 61,512 in calendar '05. Up from 57,211 in calendar '04. These are about double the 30,000 or so Cadillac originally hoped for when it went on sale in January of '02.) Showing the new model too early might kill those sales.

Re: Next Generation CTS???

If it doesn't hit the streets til at least '08... then GM needs to go to work improving the current one... more power, more refinement, better fuel milage, and most of all: IMPROVED INTERIOR!

The new model will go on sale in the late summer/fall of 2007 as a 2008 model. That's 19-20 months from now. Why would they go to the trouble of doing a whole new interior on a car for just one model year, especially if it's selling so well already? That makes no sense.

Well Cadillac got slamed across the board for it's interiors. The Enclave shows us where Buick is going, I think the next CTS will show us an even newer Cadillac that makes it clear how it is different from Buick. If GM pulls this off right it can bring back two marque brands in one fell swoop.

The next LA Auto Show starts December 1st, and goes to December 10th.

I think this is an accurate guess. GM's gotten smart about not letting anything out until the car is ready to go, so summer production in '07 would indeed = NAIAS debut.

I can't wait. Just think: next generation CTS-V. Drool.

Re: Next Generation CTS???

As GM needs product out there to boost its fortunes, don't be surprised if they force an earlier debut for the CTS. While it is true that the current model is selling well, they need to update their products quickly to demonstrate that they mean business on improving design and interior quality.

While I do agree with you on these points, I just don't think GM would deem it wise to spend the extra $ to pull the program ahead a few months when the current one is still selling so well (mediocre interior and all). Sales will probably slow quite a bit after this summer. But, they need to get vehicles like the Lamda crossovers and the Aura out and on the market. And Lord please a replacement for the Malibu. High volume product, IMHO, should be priority at GM right now.
