New Buick Excelle??

Well i was surfing the net before, and found a picture of the new Buick Excelle, there are only 2 pictures, maybe there will be more to follow.

PS: I am not too sure if its a mid-life update, but it does look different from the old one.

Re: New Buick Excelle??

I heard it is supposed to be on the Alpha platform, I thought that platform had not debuted yet

Oh well, I guess we will be getting some version of this eventually as an entry level Buick, though ours will have the fender portholes

Re: New Buick Excelle??

This is not a new platform. This looks like a mild MCE from the old Excelle.

This car is based off of the Daewoo Lacetti platform.

The new one will probably not be out for a couple of years and is rumored to be on DeltaII or Alpha.

Re: New Buick Excelle??

That is a cool name, and I like those headlights better than the LaCrosse/Allure.

No RWD for Buick. PERIOD.

Cadillac can handle the luxury RWD.

Pontiac can handle the cheap RWD

Chevy can handle the cheap FWD.

So Buick can handle the luxury FWD.

Each brand needs a purpose and a direction, a small RWD Buick would not help matters. Pontiac is in much more need of such a product to replace that joke of a Pontiac G6.

But it looks pretty good, maybe doll up the front end a little more but this means nothing untill we see the interior.

My thought's exactly.

Buick has not been about RWD performance since 1988. That was 20 years ago.

GM need to focus on eliminating overlap at BPG and a small RWD Pontiac and Buick would be silly.

Again, Buick haters are afraid that Buick takes some market shares from their favourite GM divisions...

I happen to like RWD Buicks, 20 years might seem long for some of those who were not around then but to many that are just a bit older like me (I'm 31), or that discover the older RWD Buick models when buying them used, new RWD Buicks are the only GM products we'd consider.

Are Buick buyers conservative? Probably!
Most of them went to other brands since the entire lineup turned to boring FWD cars... And those that I know don't buy other GM brands.

Wouldn't you really rather have an old Buick than the current ones?

They're not Buick haters. I'm a Buick lover and I agree with them 100% and I've been saying the same thing for a while now. GM needs to stop competeing against itself. Let Buck be the more classically styled and highly stylized luxury division that keeps the FWD lay out. Cadillac is doing fine with the RWD edgy styling luxury. Keep Chevy FWD, make Corvette a brand unto itself. Make all Pontiac's RWD, and consider cutting Saturn out. I say that as a Buick and Saturn lover, I've owned one of each.

If Buick is to get a RWD car, it should be a Velite like Halo car.

The next gen. Lucerne will be RWD, what will seperate it from the DTS/STS replacement? Probably only the badge and skin.

Is Lambda versatile enough to underpin a Sedan?

If so GM should put the next generation Lucerne, 9-5 and Imapala on that platform.

Pontiac and Cadillac can tackle the RWD markets.

If GM is to effectively manage it's multiple brand strategty than there has to be as little overlap as possible. It is that simple.

I personally have never owned a GM vehicle, my dad has a 68 427 Vette and had a Buick GS 400 (Something like that).

I don't have any bias towards any division, unlike you. You would put Buick on a pedestal at the exspense of other GM brands. GM is doing this to Saturn as we speak.

What other Brands did your Buick buddies turn to?

Lexus?

BMW?

Mercedes?

Jaguar?

or

Lincoln and Chrysler?

Re: New Buick Excelle??

To me it looks like just another bland Daewoo, but it does have potential. I would love to see more pictures though.
