That's what Cadillac does with STS and CTS, STS looks a bigger and more luxurious CTS, BMW does it with 5 series and 7 series. And Lincoln does it with Navigator and Aviator (aviator is smaller, but will become car based) |

They need to bring the caprice from australia here and turn it into a new roadmaster.Buick should have a big car in its line and also a new riviera.
I love my regal gs but its me and my wife now after a couple of kids I want a big sedan I have no interest in owning a minivan and im not that loyal to gm not to buy a new dodge magnum wagon. |

The Roadmaster sold pretty good I think there are alot still around and the wagons seem to still be pretty popular on the used car market, they made it from 92-96 but it might need a name change to maybe electra or wildcat like in the sixties. Whatever they do the should have a big car I bet if Olds kept a delta 88 or a 98 RWD in its line up it would still be around.

Buick CTS? - Buick is looking at Cadillac's Sigma rear-drive platform to replace its Park Avenue flagship for the 2006 model year. A new LeSabre full-size sedan also is due about that time. - Now this does not mean the exact Sigma rear-drive platform that uderpins the CTS/SRX, & soon to be STS. From what I read in the past, its a dumb-down version code named Sigma-lite Platform. Now the reasons they stated in the past for dumbing it down, was the 5-link suspension out back was way to costly to start spreading across the GM line ( and some other stuff too, just can't remember right now) My guess is that photo illustration was to humor our thoughts and keep us grinding at the bit waiting for more details.... (who knows! ) |

Actually, it's a shame about that Regal coupe. While it borrows somewhat from the Lucerne concept car, or, perhaps because of it, it is a good looking, tasteful design.

i think its a great idea for new cars for buick but dumping the Regal nameplate is dumb..its been in the Buick family for over 20 yrs...i hope they bring it back for either 2005 or 2006 as a sweet looking coupe and maybe a convertible also and built along side with the Pontiac G6 platform but only as a coupe...A Buick CTS?? could be interesting for sure but what they need is a trend setter for the new line of cars like the bengal conv. concept..its a great design and certainly a good starting point for Buick..if they do that they might bring in younger buyers..Yes Buick is a old man type name of a car but if Buick turns there ideas into actual production vechicles such as the Bengal, then were in for quite a ride with Buick..as for a replacement of the Park Ave i think the upcoming Caddy STS body should be the new body for the Park Ave or give it another name like GTS aka Grand Touring Sedan..but if they turn Buick around into an actual profit making company again i wouldnt doubt they would be sinking into Lexus',BMW's,and MB's profits but that i am still waiting to see.........but keep up the hard work Buick!!!!

Has anyone noticed the resemblance to the velite?
the grill is very similar and the lights are reminicent. The interesting thing is that Pop. Mechanics had this way before the Velite was even released.. im sensing that Pop. Mechanics actually got something right. I've heard from people.. that this photo does not do justice to the actual car. I'm expecting it at NAIAS in 2005... |

i dont know...
looking at that entire web page, and recalling some of Popular Mechanic's "predictions" in the past, i do not pay much attention to their spy shots. Im not saying that they're wont be a CTS based Buick, but i doubt its as sure as they say, and i hardly think it will resemble their amatuar chop job (Lexus wheels and Buick lights on a CTS body - i think they should contract out their photo shop work to some of the people at GMI  ). Also, regarding their thing on the GTO - any merit to it??? |
