    New 7" Pop-up Display for 2013 Regal?

Just curious if anyone could verify from another source if the Regal is changing it's 7" recessed display to a pop-up (flip) flush-mounted display something more similar to what the 2013 Malibu has?

This is from the 2013 ordering guide under standard features, but wasn't listed under what's new for 2013. So I'm wondering if it's mistake or if they're changing it.

UDY Audio system feature, display, 7" diagonal, touch-screen, color, located on center stack, rotates upward for storage behind

I drove a Regal the other day, it was a fantastic car. I have no idea why it doesn't sell for ****...

Pretty sure it's the same mechanism for the XTS's screen.

I am guessing that Regal sales vary from place to place, but down here in FL were are flooded with Regals, I see them all over the place, and not rentals, they all have dealership identification on the back.

That's good to hear mcgarrett. I see quite a few of them here in Birmingham. Every time I see one I think what a damn nice looking car they are! lol I'm seeing many Veranos too which is great!

There aren't many here, hell some dealers still have a few 2011's, probably why when I was looking there weren't many '12s on the lots. I still bought a GS 3 weeks ago though (on employee pricing). Hell with the sales numbers, it's a great car.

I agree. I honestly don't understand why the car sells for ****... Could it be the Lacrosse? A lack of advertising? Because the standalone product is positively FABULOUS.

Plenty of them on the road here in central NC. Starting to see increasing numbers of Veranos.

I see a bunch of Regals here in Metro Detroit. The Regal has a few problems, which include:

    1.) Cadillac ATS
    2.) Buick Verano
    3.) Buick Lacrosse
    4.) Chevy Malibu

Well sales dropped through the floor when the Verano came out. Why buy a base Regal, when you could get a well-equipped Verano?

The Regal seriously needs it's powertrains upgraded. The 2.0T needs to be upgraded to the new version on the ATS/Malibu/Verano, and the 2.4L eAssist needs to be dropped for the 2.5L. I hate eAssist, the only thing I see good about it is the stop-start, the battery pack needs to be smaller. And it needs to be taken off that boat anchor of a motor.

The raison d'etre for the Regal notwithstanding, does anyone know about the flip up screen.

It's essentially the same unit available on the 2013 Chevy Malibu. GM's press release for the Malibu calls it an "articulating touch screen radio face".

I look forward to renting either a Malibu or Regal in the near future (whenever they become available) and will post my impressions on GMI forums when I do.

Not a fan of pop-up displays. Just more to go wrong.

The Verano is nice, as is the Lacrosse, but the Regal is my personal favorite. The ATS and current CTS will be/are problems for it. The biggest gripe I've seen is that it's not RWD, which would drive people especially towards the CTS and soon enough the ATS when the CTS is priced out of range.

The Lacrosse is an issue because I believe the more "traditional," as is GM's trademark euphemism, Buick buyers gravitate toward the Lacrosse. It's very similar to the Regal in size, while being a little bit more sedate.

The Malibu isn't that much of a problem, I don't think. The Regal is clearly distinct and more luxurious, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, it's the newest GM gimmick.

Re: New 7" Pop-up Display for 2013 Regal?

We have a '12 Premium 1 used model that we got from the auction.
My dad just got an '08 328xi and like the Regal, it has push button start.

On the BMW, you have to push the key fob in, and then push on the brake and push the button. On the Regal? Just push on the brake and push the button to start. Its a minor thing, but if you are going to have push button start, the Regal takes the cake on how to do it, minus the fact that it still has the same key fob as a non push button start Regal.
