Re: My/Your Ideal Buick Lineup

I see Buick as being a Toyota/Lexus competitor considering Buick doesn't overly appeal to younger buyers.

Anyway here's my lineup:

LaCrosse/Allure: Epsilon II Platform FWD/AWD. 2.4L ECOTEC DI 190 HP, 6-Speed Auto, 2.4L ECOTEC mild hybrid DI w/6-Speed Auto 200 HP, 3.6L DI V6 290 HP, 6-Speed Auto.

Regal: Zeta Platform RWD 4-dr/2-dr. 3.2L DI HF V6 260 HP, 6-Speed Auto, 5.3L V8 VVT AFM 340 HP 6-Speed Auto (2-dr), 6.0L Two-Mode Hybrid V8 340 HP (4-dr). Grand National 6.2L 420 HP V8 w/AFM 6-Speed Man or 6-Speed Auto (2-dr).

Enclave: Lambda platform AWD. 3.6L DI Two-Mode Hybrid 300 HP 6-Speed Auto.

Velite: Zeta Roadster. 6.2L 405 HP w/AFM 6-Speed Auto.

Re: My/Your Ideal Buick Lineup

Rejigged mine.

I've also made managed to cut a platform out of my GM lineup too. Zeta is gone. Big cars will all be on Sigma. My "Alpha" platform is flexible, with smaller models being 3-series sized and the larger version being 5-series sized.
  • Insignia: Chinese Regal, a/k/a, Opel Insignia. I'm ditching Regal moniker to draw in younger buyers. Coupé available.
  • Lucerne: next-gen Ep2 LaCrosse.
  • Invicta: Biggie Sigma sedan.
  • Riviera: LWB/Wide Alpha; hardtop 2-/4-door "coupes"; Velite styling
  • Wildcat: MWB/Wide Alpha convertible and Boat-tailled coupe; shares front metal with Riviera
  • Terraza: I didn't have the U-body model, so name goes to Alpha MWB-based, Infiniti EX-ish RWD sport wagon/crossover
  • Enclave: as is
  • Rendezvous: redesigned on LWB Ep/Theta platform. Cheaper and more minivanish than Enclave.

I like the new LaCrosse that is coming out and I'm 19, however Buick's attempts so far to appeal to a younger buyer have not been overly successful. However I think with Buick's new products like the new LaCrosse will stand a better chance hopefully.

Whatever it is, it must include Lesabre!

Simple as that, I dont know why GM wanted to confuse old peeps by changing it to Lucerne. You should hear how that name has been badgered over the years!

Re: My/Your Ideal Buick Lineup

I think I told what my ideal lineup was previously, but I'll say it again, its been a few months.

Invicta-new lacrosse
LeSabre-built on supersized Epsilon II
Rendezvous-crossover built on Epsilon II
Enclave-as is

Riviera could also be built on Epsilon II, as the flagship Buick. It would feature Saab's X-WD system and be biased towards the rear wheels.

Re: My/Your Ideal Buick Lineup

been thinking of how to reference the "My/Your Ideal 'GM-I' Lineup: GM-Integrated: BPGmc ± ?" thread
so

BUICK < webpage link for other brands, colored charts!, and more info
ParkAvenue (with Roadmaster Pkg avail.)
Enclave (ditto ^ )
Invicta (possibly ditto ^ )
AND_________________________________
ELECTRA (luxury/upscale version of the Volt)
Cutlass-Insignia (Pkg. on the Cutlass**)
Plus________________________________
Riviera or LeSabre (Pkg on the Pontiac G8)
Riviera (Pkg on the Pontiac Torana ...yeah, 2 (TWO) Rivieras ...maybe)
Velite (Pkg. on the nextgen Pontiac Solstice - not nec. a 2 seater)

ALSO, since Saturn would join BPGmc as a 'Buick-Junior' ,
Safari "B" (luxury pkg on the Ion-based Cuv)
Ion "B"
Vibe "B" (Astra-based Cuv)
Astra "B"
____ "B" (Corsa-based Cuv? not sure about this one)
Corsa "B"
the "B" would resemble Bentley's

** Cutlass would be shared by Buick = top-euro-trim +1... or +2
Pontiac = "Grand Prix" Pkg. - badging optional.
and Saturn = plain "Cutlass"
(the Oldsmobile name would not be resurrected... ...yet)

Re: My/Your Ideal Buick Lineup

There was a thread over on the truck page that speculated eliminating GMC and rebadging the line as Buick trucks. This would obviously eliminate the Acadia, and hopefully result in more sales for the Enclave. Having said that, my ideal Buick lineup:

Invicta: change the name from LaCrosse for the upcoming 2010 model. 2.0L turbo 4 banger with 215 or so HP, with an upgrade to the 3.6 DI 304 HP

Riviera: a Zeta coupe built on the Camaro line. Economies of scale should allow the Rivi to be built in smaller quanties than Camaro. 3.6 DI or LS3 422 HP without AFM. I was crucified on another thread for advocating a non-AFM engine on a Buick. I feel that no competitor to Buick (BMW, Benz, Lexus, Infiniti etc) has AFM or cylinder cutoff. It seems out of place to me in a luxury car. Coupe or convertible versions.

Electra: freshed up G-body (Lucerne) with 3.6 DI only. Keep this one around for the older crowd.

Park Avenue: Move the G8 over to Buick, add a tasteful waterfall grille. 3.6 DI or the 402 HP LS3 planned for the G8 GXP.

Enclave: as is

Buick Sierra: the current GMC Sierra line with a few powertrain changes. Ditch the 4.3 V-6 and instead offer the Atlas 4.2 I-6, as the Sierra would be more upscale than Silverado. Lose the 4.8 V-8, keep 5.3 V-8 (AFM okay on the trucks) but use 6 speed automatic only. Add 6.2 V-8 as an option. Offer Buick Sierra Sport, regular cab short box with 6.2/6 speed powertrain. That huge Tri-Shield would look awesome upfront on those trucks!

Roadmaster: The current GMC Yukon.

Rainier: an upscale version of the 2010 Chevy Equinox. 2.0 turbo I-4 or 3.6
V-6.

Right or wrong, thats it. As the title states..."my" ideal Buick lineup. I don't imagine much of this will see the light of day, but oh well.
