I know that the relatively small BMW 3 series has a massive sales volume and tremendous fan following.

But to me, a luxury sedan should be very spacious. Part of luxury, in my opinion, is the ability to stretch out, to have good visibility all around, and to easily fit adults in the back seat or easily fit an adult into the back seat temporarily while they strap a child into a car seat.

So in that respect, while a fully optioned Malibu LTZ has a host of sweet characteristics, I would still consider the DTS a much more luxurious car.

Since the STS is not substantially larger than the Malibu inside, it probably would not qualify.

The loaded Malibu LTZ is nice. Been in one. I'll take the STS with its longer wheelbase, AWD (3.6 DI) and extra room on the inside.

Re: Lutz Speaks On STS/ DTS

I've been inside the Malibu and have driven the CTS, STS and DTS. The Malibu feels like it has a larger interior, especially in the back seat. The STS, like the CTS, feels more cramped than the Malibu. The DTS feels and is much larger inside.
A flagship sedan should be spacious and comfortable, and neither the CTS or STS qualifies. The Malibu isn't a flagship. I think we should press GM to produce a true modern flagship that can make us proud of Cadillac again

Ha! I thought you and I disagreed on everything!

I really hope some domestic automaker introduces tremendously spacious cars. Right now the largest sedan interior you can get for under $40,000 is in the Hyundai Genesis. I'm praying the next Taurus, or the redesigned Chrysler 300, or the Buick Lucerne replacement will be bigger inside than the Genesis.

Seconded. Americans should build what they historically have built best, not foreigners. There will always be people that buy them regardless of gas prices.

I am resigned to the CTS eventually being the largest Cadillac sedan.

Do you have a link? This is wonderful news LUTZ has said in the past (on several occasions) that the Zeta platform was too heavy and that it was "dead"
