Lassa, Motor Trend: Invicta or LaCrosse

Like many of us, Todd Lassa in Motor Trend is asking what Buick should name its new car. And, like many of us, he thinks it should be Invicta. read his opinion here: http://blogs.motortrend.com/6241289/...lon/index.html

I agree; Invicta would be an awesome name!

Agreed........the camoe'd example in that article doesn't look all that different from the Aura/Malibu.......the only thing that'll possibly set it apart is the interior.....that is, until the EPII Malibu, Aura and G6 come out.....

Regal or Century.

The coupe version should be Wildcat.

And no fake wood.

Hmm...perhaps Buick will have a naming contest just like Pontiac...
I vote Invicta.

This may just be me, but I like the name "LaCrosse". It sounds elegant and I like how it flows off the tongue when you pronounce it.

I don't believe in shoehorning all of a brand's vehicles into a naming scheme. Ford really messed it up when they dumped Taurus for the "Five Hundred" to meet is f-name scheme stuff.

Oldsmobile did just fine with Cutlass, Toronado, etc.

I think the name should fit the vehicle and not the brand.

Invicta would be a great name for this vehicle.

The sanest answer by far. Who likes G6 G8 et al ? The badge identifies the brand, why take homogeny further?

Regal, no question.

And I do believe. Ford messed up with the 500, because:
1. The car is awfully disappointing
2. The name is stupid
Though they could've been much better off with Ford Fairlane or Ford Falcon. Taurus was a name equivalent with daily rentals by then (and is it much different now? - sales didn't really pick up after the name change).

Buick could use the "R" theme:

Regal
Roadmaster
Riviera
Rainier (for the crossover previously known as "Enclave")

Re: Lassa, Motor Trend: Invicta or LaCrosse

I dunno if GM/Buick could legally use the Invicta name. There is a car maker in England called The Invicta Car Company. So unless this car company does not have the rights to the name here in the States/NA, then GM should be free to use it again & as well as obtain the rights to it, if they have not done so already.

Here is the link to website of the Invicta Car Company.
