Re: If cadillac can build an ATS that beats this AMEN!!! I will sign up tomorrow!!!

At this point we can only base our enthusiasm on previous products like the CTS V.. the camaro SS, the malibu, the Equinox, buick Lacrosse, the volt, the Corvette, Grand Sport, Z06,ZR1, Enclave....etc..

Take your pick..

this is what Cadillac ATS needs to beat! What do you guys think?
I've driven both, and would vastly prefer the ATS if it was much lighter than either of them. Nearly two tons is simply too much for a compact sedan. Not that GM has been managing curb weight well lately, but there's always hope.

3,300 or under, pleeeeeze.

GM has already admitted that its cars are too heavy. I would expect greater usage of high-strength steel, aluminium and composites to take 100-200 kilograms from future cars. The current cars are much safer than cars of old, have sufficient power, brake better, last longer, etc. Fuel economy reduction in the order of 3% can come from lighter weight, but that requires a clean-sheet approach. In the shorter term, expect 100 kg or less drop in weight, according to Mark Reuss on Autoline After Hours last week.

Talk is much cheaper than advanced materials. They no doubt knew the cars were too heavy when they were being developed--curb weight is closely tracked during development--and the cars ended up too heavy anyway.

How much does the RS6 weigh? how about the M5? I don't see either of them as much lighter than the similiarly sized CTS V...

For the record...GM's 2 seat sports car the corvette is 3317 lbs...436 hp 428 lb/ft of tq..

how does that 50 grand sports cars weight line up with any other manufacturers sports car of equal weight?

take your pick...Ferrari california? Porsche 911 twin turbo? Aston Martin ? Lamborghini? maserati? Lotus? (whats the power level?) and the list goes on and on..

Add in the audi R8 V8? How much hp? how much weight? whats it cost?

if GM says the future vehicles such as the ATS V will weigh less than the similiarly sized 3 series or Audi S4...you can rest assured GM will manage to succeed..

Cool audi vs BMW 335 video..

Thanks for the lead on the two 50 grand sports sedans performance..

Not bad showing at all...

As a GM owner I fully expect GM to surpass the foreign competition.. as it usually does.
