Only one

You also have to remember that this is just "pre-season" action. In our initial aggreance post/thread I mentioned that I wanted to look at the sales comparison for the 2010 sales year (Jan through Dec.) These first few months are just a warm up. My star hasn't even been put into the game yet to show what he can do.
Pre-season? Umm Ok... I thought the bet was for Model year 2010 not calender year 2010... But whatever, this is going to be such a smoke show that I'm happy to move the goal posts... Do you want a spread too?

I'm looking for a break out of wagon sales vs sedans... but right now you would need something like 82% of CTS sales to be wagons to get a tie... and if that was happening... it would be getting media attention.

Re: CTS SportWagon

i don't think there have been more than a handful of sales of Sport wagons yet. I find about 60 on autotrader.com.
The Sport Wagon and all CTSs for that matter are more expensive than the new SRXs.
I think caddy made a mistake by moving the CTS price up.
Don't know how you can compare SRX sales to Sport wagon sales when there hasn't been any yet. I expect the SRX to ousell it by at least 2 to 1 though, mainly due to price and form factor.

Of course a rational person would note that there is a reason that there are so few competitors in this space...
It also costed less to design I'm sure than the new SRX while doing the same things the SRX can do, better in many cases. Being rational and all, that makes me wonder why there aren't more competitors in this space...

Re: CTS SportWagon

I was considering this car as a replacement to my Maxx SS, lease is up in April.....BUT...

we had a full load SRX in here the other day for 60 grand, had it all, Im in canada remember so its bend over pricing.....anyhow....the new CTS wagon we got coming is 66.......WTF.....and it dont even have the dual DVDs I dont think like the SRX did, the only diff I could see is the engine obviously, the 3.0 VS the HO 3.6, but really 6 grand more....WTF GM...

for that kind of money this thing better float on water or something major over what the SRX will do

Re: CTS SportWagon

The sport wagon is about driving dymanics and car like gas mileage. It's not about price.
The Sigma is more expensive to build than the FWD SRX. That's like comparing a crew cab silverado to a Impala, they can be bought for the same price, but........ Completely different buyer.

Re: CTS SportWagon

I saw my first Sportwagon in my new town yesterday morning. I'm originally from Lansing and live near LGR so I've seen dozens of them running up and down the streets and booking it down the highways, but I moved 500 miles northwest almost 2 months ago. The CTS Sportwagon is still an awesome car though, and if there can be one on a remote stretch of the Keweenaw Peninsula, there can be one anywhere

Note that it is very early in the first quarter... but

For September... and yes, these are all 2010 SRX sales...

Cadillac’s CTS was down 20 percent (3,485... which includes all of the wagons),
DTS dropped 32.5 percent while STS fell 49.3 percent.
The new SRX single handedly made Cadillac the best-performing brand, up 238 percent from last September’s 848-unit performance, with 2,866 units sold (nearly a quarter of Caddy’s total car and truck volume)

Team SRX scores the first touchdown... and wipes the sport wagon's nose in it with a 2 point conversion.

Team SRX is penalized 15 yards on the return for excessive endzone celebration.

Next update in 31 days.
31 (or so) days later and while these are just "pre season" games...
How are things shaping up so far...

Well in the month of October....

CTS 2,921 (Thats ALL of them including the wagon)
SRX 3,477...

The crossover not only out sold the CTS wagon...
It out sold ALL of the CTS's...

This month the SRX not only scored another touchdown, and a two point conversion... but on the kick return the CTS fumbled in the end zone and the SRX recoved for another 7 points.

Can we finally agree that American's don't buy wagons... The SRX must be outselling the Wagon by a factor of 10 or 20 to 1

Re: CTS SportWagon

Yes, obviously the CTS wagon sales have sucked thus far (I would go so far as saying that CTS sales suck altogether.) I still think CTS wagon sales will significantly improve but right now it really does not look good.

Re: CTS SportWagon

I think the CTS MSRP is $1500 too high. They moved this car upmarket for 2008 and if the the MSRP for the both the sedan and wagon were lowered they would be open to more internet searches.

I like to think it will catch on to some extent. But I wouldn't look for the CTS wagon to come anywhere near the SRX's sales. It's significantly more expensive, for a start. Then the fact that it's.....well........a wagon. Or maybe a better way to put it is: It's NOT a crossover. Crossovers are popular now and that's fine. But wagons aren't. It's as simple as that, I think.

My own preference is for the CTS wagon. I think it's beautiful.

Re: CTS SportWagon

My dealership and received and sold all 4 of our '10 SRX's within 2-3 days of them arriving off the truck. We've had a black '10 CTS Sport Wagon for 2 weeks with no bites. Performance Luxury Collection in Black Raven; stickers for $53k. Our most expensive SRX was $44k.

Then just call it crossover, regardless of whether it is or not. People are obviously that gullable in the first place, or else the crossover market wouldn't be as big as it is anyways. Would've been way cheaper than making the SRX.

Re: CTS SportWagon

Looks like Caddy will be throwing some incentives on these soon. 5 series STARTS a $55K and can easily go to $72K.
If they throw $4-5K in incentives at it + being able to get it for invoice then subvent the lease but at this point I am no longer in the market for one.
TOO expensive and TOO small inside.
