    Cadillac ATS: Three Across

The 2013 Cadillac ATS seats three in the rear.
Note: If you have three 6+ footers (6'2", 6'3", 6' when standing up really straight) they will not have enough headroom to allow circulation to their brains, nor will they have enough hip room to prevent uncomfortable levels of touching. Shoulder room is similarly lacking, it's best to sit slightly staggered.
Note: Good legroom for the guys on the outside. (Thanks for taking another one for the team, Schmidt.)

    Re: Cadillac ATS: Three Across

Funny thing- when I searched for a picture of three burly guys in the back of a 3 series (E90 or F30), C-class , IS350 etc I came up with zip. You'd almost think that Edmonds had a vendetta against GM...

They ripped on CUE before the seats.

Yeah, I just saw that. They seemed primed to slate this car for everything they can remotely justify- CUE, nav interface, rear space etc. I mean how dare Cadillac presume to be in the class of the Germans. They must be knocked down a peg or three... I'm probably just too sensitive becuse any sign of negativity from the reviewers brings out all the smug American car hating commentators who believe that their irrationality has been justified, which annoys the hell out of me!

They also complained that they got worse mileage driving at a faster speed to a higher elevation. 28+ going downhill versus 24.9 going faster uphill to AZ.

Well I guess that answers the question: "What do you get when you have 3 contributing writers and a photographer with nothing else to do?"

Stay tuned for next week's episode: Why the ATS is not a submarine.

Now I want to see the three of them do the same test in the 3 series and C Class, sitting the same way (butt all the way back sitting as upright as possible). These "journalists" bias are showing.

These guys prove if you have a camera and a platform to broadcast from, you can be a "journalist." Real "U-Tubers" as all the world are now "journalists."

All of a sudden the most important feature of a RWD sports sedan is how comfortably three six footers can sit in the back seat.

Soon - After viewing the 360s of the ATS interiors on the Caddy site, I won't be happy with any other car.

Nice to see many comments on Edmunds agree this is at best a silly compliant at worst a bias against GM.

Does anyone know if Edmunds has ever done such a 'test' with the ATS's compact competition?

Non of the cars in that segment are made to fit three guys like that in the back seat.

I love when journos start expecting a car to be all things to all people. It's a compact sedan, for goodness sakes! Want a Caddy with room for three 6' guys, go buy an XTS, or better yet an Escalade

    Re: Cadillac ATS: Three Across

It's a compact car. I would have been shocked if ATS could actually fit 3 6''+ guys in the rear. TO my knowledge, no compact car does, though there may be varying degrees of headroom and legroom.

GM's always had packaging problems. Someone on here once explained why, but I don't recall the reason or if that reason was even true.

If ATS can fit 2 guys 6'+ in the rear relatively comfortably, then that should be OK in the segment.
