Re: Buick GS Coupe or Grand National
While it looks good....
NO RWD BUICKS! This will step on the toes of Cadillac and Pontiac, GM needs as little overlap as possible.

Chevrolet: Bread and Butter. Pontiac: Affordable RWD performance. Buick: Pure Luxury FWD , the most Comfortable ride this side of the Maybach. Saab: Semi Luxury Quirky, Fun euro styled FWD/AWD cars. Cadillac: RWD Luxury Performance, offering the best GM can conjure. The only RWD product that Buick should get would be a Velite like Halo car, based on Zeta.

The Grand National is one of the few good things that happened at GM in the eighties. It wasn't that good compared to other Buicks from a more distant past but it was the best Buick from the eighties and the only one (and the last one) that's still got a decent resale value in today's market. Thinking that cars like these is what caused problems to GM since the eighties makes no sense. The (long term) damage to GM came from cars like the 2.8 Chevy-powered FWD 1988 Regal, not the Buick-powered 1987 Regal Turbo. I don't think that anyone who owns a 1987 Regal Turbo in good shape would consider trading it for a newer 1988 or even for a 1998 or 2008 Buick!

GS coupe, let the old names not be tampered with unless its twin turbo DI and really going to SMOKE the competition like CTSV and ZR1 and Z06 and SS in Cobalt form have done!

Re: Buick GS Coupe or Grand National
Well, if your tune the suspension for a soft road feel, being luxurious without sport (Caddy) and not being too low on price (POntiac) it could carve out its own niche. Also the engine would need to be tuned to be quiet and to purr like a cat, not to rumble with power like a BMW M car.

Re: Buick GS Coupe or Grand National
I also agree with this, the car should have a DI turbo, or twin turbo engine, with 300-400 hp on the top end, and maye just a DI engine as base

Re: Buick GS Coupe or Grand National
Seriously? Maybach? I agree with the rest of the brand directions, but what would be so bad if this were Buick's Halo car? Would it make more sense as a Pontiac? Yes, but I honestly don't care what it is sold as in the US, as long as it is.

Re: Buick GS Coupe or Grand National
This coupe would not work for Buick because it looks too much like the G8 unless they spend the dollars to change the interior and sheetmetal.
The smartest way to get this auesome coupe to the US is to bring it over as part of the G8 family. |
