Edmunds ignored this noise for over 2000 miles? Car experts? Why did they take delivery of the car if it was making this noise? The plastics excuse is weak. I wouldn't accept delivery if a car made this type of noise.

I can only imagine MacKinnon, and Hellwig glee while seeing this from GM. Why does Cadillac give people these opportunities to mess with their reputation?
Last I checked, they never make videos about anyone else’s problems either. GM needs to punish Edmunds.
Early batch vehicle problems.
Oh, come on. It's just to let blind drivers know the wheel is turning.

I'm sorry but this is not normal in any car and if it was me I wouldn't have left the dealership with that sound. My mom who is not a car person and doesn't drive would have questioned it and wouldn't blame it on the plastics, I'm sorry this person should not be reviewing cars.
Turn up the radio and pretend its a Neal Pert solo.

I sometimes get that in the electric steering of my wife's new Acadia. The dealer claims that they could not duplicate it.

A GM mechanic's favorite line as long as the vehicle has 36k miles or less!!
I really hope they get those noises fixed quickly! Nothing made me more angry than my 2006 Silverado with an intermediate shaft clunking noise. GM had known about it for YEARS and had half-ass repairs for it. Let's hope the new GM gets on it!!
Get used to more.
Noises from the steering system were standard equipment on Cobalts...seemed the option made it up to Cadillac
Man this reminds me of good ol GM...you can use "same ol GM" as you use "same ol Lions"
I wonder if it's something interfering with the clock spring?
I've never seen inside an electric steering system. Do they use a shaft through the firewall or is it simply two counter-rotating potentiometers inside the steering wheel?

Edmunds has really been getting on my nerves lately. Luckily, I won't be checking their site much longer because they moved InsideLine to Edmunds and the setup is terrible.

I believe it's like a regular rack & pinion steering system with an electric motor mounted against the rack to help move it at low vehicle speeds. The tricky part is telling the motor which way to turn and when & how hard to kick in so that it feels natural. It isn't entirely drive-by-wire--yet.
That drove me crazy with my Intrigue. After it started again after a dealer "fix", I bought a grease gun and lubed it up myself at the floorboard. Never had any more trouble with it.with an intermediate shaft clunking noise.
