So true! and an excellent observation. Rick Wagoner was a master at playing "Go-go-go-stop" I hope that Fritz and Ed have the smarts to make good decisions and stick with them. Look at the number of Zeta flip flops... only to have the last version of this platform be a low margin car that no-one can buy...

Oh the insanity.

It should also have a decent size trunk (~16 cuft or more). I hope they can do it, but more and more feel it may be done given what they're working with.
Hopefully, the new car won't be shorter in length than the Lincoln MKS, but maintain the 115.6" wheelbase to retain the current DTS's interior dimensions. It's probably too late to hope, however. By now, it is or it isn't.

On this we are in complete agreement. It's embarrasing to renig on announcements. This is why I'm glad that "Big-Mouth-Bob" has been given a new job. And I'm also glad of that minor dust-up earlier in the year, that famous "Bob Lutz works for me" thing. It's vitally important that GM be seen speaking with one unified voice on all matters, especially on the subject of product.

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

This is so plum stupid. GM is making me more and more sick by the hour! If the new XTS is smaller than the DTS, I WILL NOT buy it! I'll get me a DTS, and that will be IT for me and GM!

They should NEVER have tried to replace both the STS and DTS with one dang car! They should have returned the Seville to what it was from '92 to '04, and made a new DTS in the same mold as the current car!

If the next CTS is getting bigger, they should just name it STS and call it Seville Touring Sedan in commercials; name the entry-level sedan CTS instead of ATS; name the upcoming full-size car DTS and call it DeVille Touring Sedan in commercials; name the CTS Coupe ETC and call it Eldorado Touring Coupe in commercials. That would draw everybody's attention because the people who need three letter names would be satisfied to see those badges on the cars - and the traditional people would "know" their vehicles by name, what they are and what they represent.. No big deal that it's just an abbreviation on the vehicle itself...
Agreed!

Really? Aren't you interested to know first just how MUCH smaller?

So if it comes out, say, 3-4" shorter with the same size or larger interior you'll go bye-bye?

Were you planning to buy a XTS? You're richer than I am.

Though, you can probably find a good deal on a DTS right now.

This has all been said a thousand times before, but it is still true.

The public impression that GM is run by idiots, which is already pretty strong, just gets worse with things like this.

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

I tend to be habitually optimistic in most matters, HOPEFULLY based on facts as I am aware of them. So I hope that instead of harboring too high of hopes for the ATS and XTS and ending up being disappointed a few years from now when they come out, that I will have my hopes and expectations EXCEEDED by what Cadillac has been fashioning all along.

NO! There ain't no plum reason or need for it to be smaller!

Look, I LOVE the look of the current DTS. It's a plum beautiful car, and the length is a part of why I find it so beautiful! If it's the same or bigger on the inside, that's good, but I still have to LIKE the way it looks on the outside! Shortening the car will mess up it's look!

You can't - because the lock stalk is jamming into your arm the whole time. I've never seen something like this in a luxury car. What an oversight.

Otherwise, get the horsepower up, add a five or six speed transmission - and I think the FWD can even stay..
I never noticed a door handle problem. I'll have to look.

On the rest of it...... From your lips to Fritz's ears.

I see. And yes, if the DTS >AS IT IS NOW< were shortened any length then you are absolutely correct. It would look dumb. But that does not mean that the XTS will look dumb just by virture of being marginally smaller. (And again, there are no dimensions released yet so the argument is academoc.)

Ya know, just when I think I never want to see another one of your posts, you write something clever like this and make laugh ot loud. And you're right. My late employer used to say:"There are two things you should never discuss, you're love life and your money." That statement of mine was meant to be funny but it came off as vulgar. My apologies.

But seriously, why don't you wait and see this new Cadillac before making a bunch of proclamations you might have to retract later?

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

The 2006 redo fixed many of the things that irritate me about my 2004: the seat-mounted belts are gone, the body was raised an inch to improve entry, the visors were raised above the windshield, and the seat travel increased for more front legroom. The dash is uglier overall, but it looks easier to keep clean and the wheel is nicer.

The eggcrate grill is too garish--all chrome and black. The STS grill would look much better on the DTS.

I saw a new Taurus today. Nice greenhouse, but busy details and a monstrous back end like the MKS. Baby got back.

HA! I saw one of those in black the other day and really liked it. I don't mind the big back end on it cuz its a large car and honestly didn't notice it that much.

It's the principal of the thing. There's no need to make it smaller.

Not only am I against them making it smaller on principal, but in the history of GM downsizing, they only did it in a non-offensive manner with the '77 B-bodies, '79 E-Bodies, and the '82 F-bodies (To a lesser extent though, cause I prefer the skirts and spoilers of the '85 and up cars). The '78 G-Body coupes I like, but NOT the sedans and wagons, and the rest of their downsizing that came in the mid/late '80s, sheesh MAJOR ugly stick alert, as well as crapping out on utility! So I think I have plum good reason to worry!
