2010 DTS Brochure

Looks like Cadillac is winding down both the STS and DTS. Both cars are featured in one pathetic 16 page brochure.

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

It's not surprising, but a sad ending for a storied model with a great American history! I see they've even limited interior colors to two choices (WOW!) and exterior choices are bland, too. No surprise, either. Many loyal customers will be lost, to never return to the Cadillac brand again.

I think you're painting the picture a bit darker than it is, really. The XTS will be out before long.

The STS hasn't sold in any great number for some time now and the DTS has fallen as well, though that's probably something to do with the fact that it's essentially 10 years old.

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

The most dreadful thing is: It did not have to go this way; Cadillac should have updated the DTS in 2006 with enough Sixteen cues to keep it salable until the 2012 when an all-new model could have been released. Color choices of Cadillac’s should never be limited; or interior choices as well.

The STS has been replaced by the CTS so that name should go into hiatus until a new renaissance of Cadillac can be supported. New product is paramount to dealer support, this quite probably is the reasoning behind the closure to 70% of the Cadillac Dealers in favor of those with the greatest volume of sales, and customer recognition.

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

A big gripe in the 2010 DTS is a spare tire (compact) and jack are optional equipment (maybe a gold-plated version comes standard in the Platinum Edition). The car is supplied only with an aerosol inflator can as standard equipment. That won't help if the hole is big enough or the sidewall is affected.

No surprise, we have been predicting and anticipating this since spring.

This is probably good news... This means that the XTS might be here a little sooner then everyone thought.

How could they do that without redesigning the whole car?

Remember the reason that the DTS and STS were given such cursory updates was that the DT7/ Zeta car that was to replace both was well under way and due out by about now.

Fate has had its way with THAT plan.

I'd be suprised if the STS is produced much past March. The DTS must die by about the same time. The plant it's built in needs extensive remodeling to build the Volt by November.

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

DeVille, Seville, Fleetwood, Brougham, Eldorado, STS, DTS, Allante, XLR, Cimarron, Catera (okay, no big deal on those last two)... All gone... Does ANYONE else play the name game the way Cadillac does? If the next CTS is getting bigger, they should just name it STS and call it Seville Touring Sedan in commercials; name the entry-level sedan CTS instead of ATS; name the upcoming full-size car DTS and call it DeVille Touring Sedan in commercials; name the CTS Coupe ETC and call it Eldorado Touring Coupe in commercials. That would draw everybody's attention because the people who need three letter names would be satisfied to see those badges on the cars - and the traditional people would "know" their vehicles by name, what they are and what they represent.. No big deal that it's just an abbreviation on the vehicle itself...

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

Yesterday i was at the post office and someone had a newer, black DTS in the lot.
The lines still hold up. Seems to me if they had upgraded the tranny, worked out a way to fit the AWD drivetrain in there, kept the HP up over 320, it would still be a seller. Maybe i am all washed up on this,

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

No, I think you're right.. Just add new door handles to your list - and it would be fine on the outside. There's a few things they need to fix on the inside. For one, the lock stalk is in the worst spot possible. If you like leaning your arm up against the window while driving, this car isn't for you. You can't - because the lock stalk is jamming into your arm the whole time. I've never seen something like this in a luxury car. What an oversight.

Otherwise, get the horsepower up, add a five or six speed transmission - and I think the FWD can even stay..

Re: 2010 DTS Brochure

Well now we're getting an EPII XTS that should address many if not all of our critcisms of the DTS, with the exception of FWD. What really has me concerned is that Bryan Nesbitt said that the XTS will be smaller than the DTS, which is fine if they can keep the interior volume as close to it as possible. It should also have a decent size trunk (~16 cuft or more). I hope they can do it, but more and more feel it may be done given what they're working with.

I agree...I had really hoped for a Sixteen-inspired refresh of the exterior, and an SLS-inspired refresh of the interior. Here's hoping that the XTS is a jawdropper inside and out.

A great way to phase back in storied names with a lot of great history vs. these goofy letters. I wish Lincoln would do the same.

Alphabet soup is a gift from LaNeve. Now that he is in Good Hands at AllState. Maybe some sanity will return to Cadillac and we will start to leverage some of the great history that this brand has been RUNNING away from since 2002.

Oh and if LaNeve has anything to do of any level of importance at AllState. I would short that stock. You can thank me later.

As others have mentioned the car did not have to be completely redesigned. but it could have been upgraded: new Interior, electronics, package reallocations, transmission updates, and exterior tweaks. Something to keep the current owners and offering a reason to trade-in their older cars.

GM must decide when an offering has been "leaked" they have made a "commitment" to a market. This on and off again stance with buying customers--undermines confidence and is a market share destroyer; when people look forward to offerings and they are disappointed this often results in spending more money with a competitor than was previously planned-- out of spite and because they can (me-while awaiting the MKS EcoBoost).
