2008 CTS Fuel Economy

Okay, as the agonizing wait continues for prices on the 08 CTS, what about fuel economy? Where will the CTS end up? I know there are a bunch of combinations (DI or non-DI, RWD or AWD and stick or auto) with the former of each of those combo's likely to get slightly better mileage than the latter.

I was thinking that with the 07 non-DI at 18/27 (I think) there would be an outside chance to get the DI motor to 20/30. But I forgot that the 08 standards knock 1-2mpg off of most cars. So, maybe the DI can get 18/28 with the RWD set-up? And 16/26 for the non-DI?

I would think Cadillac would love to be able to advertise a 30mpg highway car, although I don't think that is going to happen (especially with the added weight in the 08)

Re: 2008 CTS Fuel Economy

I don't know much about calculating MPG but I would think real world is 20mpg..

Probably highway is 30mpg..

I get 28 mpg on the highway in my modded Z06 so I don't see why this caddy shouldn't get at least 30 mpg on the highway in real life.

It is a bit heavier but the technology with DI and the six speed automatic should nail down some good numbers.

Re: 2008 CTS Fuel Economy

My '06 CTS only gets about 24.5 on the highway (75-80mph), I don't know how they will coax another 5mpg out of it with more horses and weight.

Maybe with one more gear and direct injection it will??? I wonder if it cuts through the air better than a gen 1 CTS?

I bet that 24.5 at 75-80 becomes 28-29 at 55-60. It's amazing how much difference going slow (55-60) makes versus the normal 75-80. I've tried it on a few trips now and the difference is 20% better at slower speeds.

Still don't think the CTS will get a 20/30 rating like I was hoping.

Re: 2008 CTS Fuel Economy

I would think realworld driving would be around 23-24. I have a Cadillac SLS and I drive 55 and get an average of 28-29 mpg. People cannot believe it when I tell them. Then I show my dash display and then they believe me.
