1999 Buick Regal GS

Hello, I have found a 1999 Buick Regal GS with under 46k miles and under 6k$. I am wondering if this car is worth the money. I am looking for a nice car, with some power behind it. It has leather interior and looks to be in great shape. I have some general questions about it though. What is the general feeling behind the 3.8L V6 it has and about the car itself. Thanks a bunch.

Re: 1999 Buick Regal GS

The price is dependant on the area. I know around here that's a really good deal. The car is one that I was seriously looking for but couldn't find one the way I wanted (as you describe) and all the ones I found were used and abused, but still good running cars, but the interiors were trashed by uncaring owners. I couldn't find a good one that was in my price range (under $10,000, 3 years ago).

Is it a Supercharged version? I wanted one of those.

But the car and the engine are great and I'd snap it up if you like it, assuming there's no red flags (Car Fax is clear, never wirtten off, etc.).

That's the car I wanted soooo bad 3 years ago. Looks like a good deal and it is Supercharged according to the additional features list. Great cars and such low miles!

You will definitely enjoy the 3800 SC, it's a very fun motor to drive. For more specific inquiries try www.regalgs.org. There are many friendly members on the board who would be glad to answer many of your questions.

Re: 1999 Buick Regal GS

Looks like a great buy, the Supercharged 3800 has alot of power and all you need to do get a little more is add a K&N filter (stock replacement) and a Hypertech Max Energy "tune" to firm up the shifts and boost the power, that will get you a car that will surprise many cars on the road and deliver 30+ MPG on a trip and mid 20's in mixed driving.

You can obviously get more aggressive, but you will want to stiffen up the suspension first.

Let us know what you decide.

Re: 1999 Buick Regal GS

Ugh. I saw a black Regal GS while walking across campus a few weeks ago. Chrome factory wheels, silver lower body molding, SC 3800, and leather seats.

So clean, so beautiful; I was SO jealous. I'm the one 19 yr old jealous of a guy's W-body Buick Regal.

Re: 1999 Buick Regal GS

Haha. Well I'm really looking to it. I'm 18 and this car looks like something I would be interested in. You guys have been a big help. I go to VCU and I swear one out of four drivers have a tC and Id love to pull up beside one and smoke it. Haha. But the mileage on this specific car is really what is attractiv me to it. Along with the fact insurance shouldn't be to very high.

Re: 1999 Buick Regal GS

I like the fact that it's a total sleeper. That didn't stop me from getting a Pontiac anyways. And I never found the naturally aspirated 3.8 to be lacking, so this engine must be amazing.

Re: 1999 Buick Regal GS

The L67's are very mod friendly. I've got an intake, exhaust, rockers, smaller SC pulley and a tune on mine and it flies. You can push a Regal into the mid 13's for ~$1000.

13 seconds to go a 1/4 mile. Thats about what some LT1 Camaros run. Pretty good for a V6 grocery getter!

If I ever had to get something cheaper to run than my '00 STS, my first choice would most likely be a S/C Regal GS. I've always loved the bodystyle.

Re: 1999 Buick Regal GS

Any idea what insurance companies classify the Buick Regal GS as? For me, an 18 year old male, with one ticket...It would be around 306$ per month...I finished high school with a 3.4, Im in college, I have had a job since June of 07'...Should the insurance be this high for this car for me??? Im freaking angry. Haha, thanks.
