Zeta prices?

Any thoughts what a Zeta chassis car is going to cost? I have read it is a lower cost Sigma chassis. So if you compare it to a CTS, I would guess a Zeta G8/Grand Prix/Bonnie with a V6/RWD would be about the same price as a new GP GT? ~ $25K? I remember reading the Buick Zeta car will be first off the line, but haven't heard much on price guess for that either.

:feedback:

I think its safe to say that the prices of the Zeta cars will be around the prices of comparable FWD cars.

Re: Zeta prices?

you're right about the zeta beign based of the sigma chassis, which in turn is based off the current statesman platform. Basically zeta is a sigma using steel instead of aluminum. This allows GM to lower the price considerably. I'd expect ti to be around the same range as comparable front wheel drive cars...Just as BigAl said ^_^

Re: Zeta prices?

Well, few things...
First, Sigma has little to do with Omega. Front and rear suspension as well as chassis design is much different then Omega which is now been morphed to the V class chassis for Holden.
Now, Zeta seems to have more relations to the outgoing V chassis with an updated Sigma rear suspension. There is no real info on what this chassis will really be closer to, but most recent news is that it will be closer to the Omega/V chassis then Sigma.

Re: Zeta prices?

G6 GT's run about 22k, and the GTP (3.9L) will likely start at 24k, so the G8 with 3.9L will be at least 26k. I'd hoped the Pontiac G8 would be priced to fight the Dodge Charger, but since a loaded G6 GT costs about as much as the Charger with Hemi is expected to be, somehow I don't see this happening. I'd say at least 25-30k for Chevy, 27-33k for Pontiac, and 29-35k for Buick.

Fat chance in hell the G6 GTP will start at $24k. It would be cool if Pontiac offered a stripped GTP for about $24k, but we all know that will never happen.

I'm guessing $26k for a "base" G6 GTP.

my understanding was the sigma was based on the same chassis as the Statesman/Catera

I think the Zeta sedan should run about the price of the 300.

So, is the G8 going to replace both the Grand Prix and Bonnie? The last I read was that the Bonnies outlook wasn't good. I haven't heard anything regarding the Grand Prix name, but it would seem to make sense that the Grand Prix would become the G8 (following the Grand am - G6 logic). This is just my speculation, and I don't think I ever read anything with these specifics. BTW, a RWD G8 is what I want. Make it a v8, maybe even make it AWD, give it a 6 speed, then you got something. And we haven't even seen what it's going to look like!

Nope, 2 totaly different chassis. The Catea is built on Omega that was designed by Opel, which was morphed into the VX,Y,and Z chassis by Holden.
Sigma was designed and developed by GM NA and Caddy to be a preimier luxury car chassis. Holden has wanted there own Sigma, but Caddy wont let go of it.

The Pontiac Zeta sedan will be probably about the size of a GP, but offer way more driving dynamic and give us a poor-mans 5 series. But, the Zeta sedan will be around along with the GP.

Re: Zeta prices?

I'm not sure why, but when ever I think of Zeta I imagen a very large, 7-Series size car. I can't picture is being the size of a W-body, or even a G-body.

That's just the way I visualize in my head how big Zeta cars will be.

The G8 will likely replace the Bonneville and GP. Making the size of it between the GP and Bonne.

Oh, it will have a V8, now worries there;)

wow...no, deffinatly not that big. Zeta will be available in many sizes and be flexability. Im sure Zeta could be stretched that far, but Pontiac's Zeta sedan will probably be about teh size of the present GP.

I believe the GTO is going to be Zeta after a redesign, so that kind of helps to make it a little easier to see. And being that Zeta is going to be around the same size as the GP gives me a little more hope and promise that the W-body cars will make the switch to RWD if this hasn't been 100% confirmed already.
