Pontiac is dead.
Almost inexplicably the brand has a small but fiercely strong following. I understand why people would like its models from the mid 1950s- late 1970s, but why ANYONE like ANY of their [distasteful] cars from the 1990s until now (Holden Commodores excluded) is simply beyond me. BUT, that aside, this thread is to appreciate the good cars that came with the Pontiac (or Oakland) logo. SO, post your favorite Pontiacs. And this is a shame-free thread. If you were one of those wack jobs that really liked late model Grand Ams, G5s, G3s, G6s, Bonnevilles, and, my god, even Grand Prixs, you shall not be judged.

Re: Your favorite Pontiac of all time?
ALL, but the blatent Chevy rebadges like G5, Torrent, and the import G8 and Vibe.
I have a top 5. 1. 2002 Firebird Firehawk(My all time dream car) 2. 2008 Grand Prix(the one I have right now, and the one that is the best car I have owned, and still love) 3. 1969 G.T.O Judge 4. 1988 Fiero GT 5. 2002 Aztek (Sue me, flame me, or whatever, I still think it was a great car that was unique only from Pontiac) and a lot more.

Re: Your favorite Pontiac of all time?
Wow it makes me sad to even think of an answer as when I was a kid in the early 60s, Cadillac and Pontiac were my two favorite car lines period, GM or otherwise. Very hard for me to choose...for favorite Pontiac concept car the 1988 Banshee wins hands down....I STILL love that car! Production? Wow....last gen Firebird? 1965 Grand Prix?

Re: Your favorite Pontiac of all time?
![]() and ![]() Though I prefer that Trans Am, the 64 GTO is Pontiac in its purest form. Without it I'd never have my favorite car of all time and ultimate dream car the 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W30 Convertible in Matador Red with white stripes.

Great choices. It seems that you and I see those cars as art on wheels, essences of themselves. Bums me big time that my dreams of a new Firebird will apparently never come true.

Re: Your favorite Pontiac of all time?
Backwards from my # 5:
5: 1969 Grand Prix 4: 1995 Firebird 3: 1969 LeMans 2: 1967 GTO 1: 1970 1/2 Firebird I really liked that 2nd generation Firebird before they started over-endura-ing the front end, adding ridiculous lights or elongating the back window. It had beautiful lines from any angle. Great engine choices--- made by PMD after all. |

Re: Your favorite Pontiac of all time?
Hey thanks so much for posting that pic of the 1959 Pontiac with the DOUBLE fins.....I'd forgotten about that. I will right click it and hope I can save it. Again, thanks for the flashback! Pontiac created many genuine automobile design icons....I have a vague feeling that 20 years from now, car lovers will NOT feel that about the G8 and G3. Bye Pontiac.

Re: Your favorite Pontiac of all time?
Here's another of my favorites...a 1971 LeMans. My dad had a two door hardtop 71 LeMans. Riding with him in that car is what made me a Pontiac fan. The memory of riding in that car is what got me through dark days at Pontiac and kept me a Pontiac fan.
