What was the best model year for the Bonneville made?

I ment to say best year of the last body. I just wounder if there was a problem year I should avoid with 2000-2005 bodies. I plan to buy a used one early next year. I currenty have a 95 and it's been a geat car. I wish I could get a new one. Damn GM for stopping this model. Was there any problem years in the last body?
What took the place of the Bonneville?
    Thanks.

I've read that problems have been above average with the Supercharged Bonnevilles, but I have not heard anything bad about them. I like them a lot especially the GXP version in its last year.

Nothing has really replaced this car yet. The Grand Prix will most likely be named the G8 and be a larger car leaving the midsize market to the G6.

I like the 2004/2005 GXP models of the Bonneville. That was my favorite body style of the Bonneville too. I would say the Lucerne took the place of the Bonneville for the P/B/G dealer network. The GP is not quite up to the Bonneville in size as the GP is a midsize-fullsize car in both segments. I think if the G8 is big enough, it could take that spot in Pontiac's line-up of the Bonneville.

I too would point towards the GXP. If not that, then the SSEi's with the T/A fog lights.

2004 grand prix GT was the best car my parents ever owned. it was never in the shop for 1 thing. it looked nice had a nice inside great muffler sound when you hit the gas for for only 200hp that car went really good. i was talking to my dad last night about it and he said he liked that car and how it looked and the power. the only thing he didnt like was it had a low roof so there wasint much head room but thats because it kinda had a sporty look to it. but if i ever had to get a family car it def will be a grand prix.

What kind of gas milage does the V8 get? I thought the northstar was prone to oil leaks, is that true?
I don't want to get a supercharged 3.8. I had a Park Avenue Ultra and it had a lot of carbon built up in the engine at 130K and wouldn't pass emmissions. I had to have it cleaned so it would pass. I haven't had any problems with that with my SSE non-supercharged 95. If I get the 3.8 I am leaning towards the SLE. Is that the same model as the old 1995 SSE I have?

I personally like the most recent Bonnevilles..I think that with most daily driving cars, people favor the the most current unless it changed drastically in a bad way..but the Bonneville made a nice transition from the 2 most recent body styles. But I dont want to undercredit the mid-late 90s Bonnevilles. Infact, I wish I would have added it to the "Cars that age Gracefully" thread, because the cars today still look pretty good. My neighbor bought his son a 98 I believe, it is a white SSEI (I think..might be the next trim down) with the IMO more attractive wheels that were offered on the Bonneville of that generation.

I think that in shades these cars look their best..black/silver/white..If well maintained and clean, I think that the Bonnevilles from 1996-1999 still look great on the road.

What he is asking is, of the last generation of Bonneville, between the 2000 - 2005 model years, out of these 6 years only. Which would be the best year to buy?

I'd say the 1957 Pontiac Bonneville, followed closely by the '59 and then '58.

Re: What was the best model year for the Bonneville made?

My 1998 & 2002 SSEi's were two of the best cars I ever owned. They were very stylish, fun to drive and trouble free. Never had a problem with the supercharger. That said, any model year from the last generation would be OK. I wanted to lease a 2005 but the deals weren't that great so I went with the GP and have enjoyed that almost as much as my Bonnevilles. I say almost, only because I did prefer the larger size of the Bonneville

If your not power hungry a 2000-2005 SLE would be perfect for you. The 3.8 actually puts out as much power as the Supercharged 3800's in the 92-94 Bonnie's. I personally like the GXP's or a Black SSEi with the 17-inch chrome wheels.
