Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

Sad day to see that the Pontiac brand will be 'no more' as of the end of 2010.

Still quite glad that I bought my G8 GT while I could -- it's 10x the quality and performance of any previous pontiac I had owned.

Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

I purchased my 2009 G8 GXP on 04/19 from Koons Chevy/Pontiac/Chrysler in McLean. The sticker was $40,000+, I received $3500.00 in discounts and 0% financing so I got it for around $36,500...I feel I got a good deal since other Pontiac dealers in the D.C. area are marking them up $3000.00 to $5000.00. One dealers was asking $47,000.00 for them. Damn dealer greed...anyway Mine is black,w/ black and red seats and automatic, since it was an impulse buy. It was setting on the showroom floor next to 2 ZR1's that had sold stickers on them. I was holding out for a Camaro SS, but the prospects were dim with them trickling into dealers and pre orders and mark-ups, one dealer only had a V-6, and it was marked-up $10,000.00. Anyway, I love the G8 GXP, I currently have about 1,700 miles in it. I would like to add a cold air induction system, some wider rubber, I want to find out what the widest tire is I can put on the 19x8 inch wheels as I like the stock ones. I was thinking maybe 275x40's, the stock ones are 245x40's...I'll give TireRak a call...I also like the sound the stock exhaust system makes, since this is the LS3, 6.2 litre Corvette engine, I'm assuming it has a true dual exhaust system..A super charger might be too much, don't want to tear up the automatic, was dismayed to hear about the seal leaks on the 2009 G8 GT's...keeping my fingers crossed, maybe a performance chip might do, would like to get it too 500hp from the current 415..love the 4 piston Brembos up front..I'll post some pics soon....

I just don't understand the logic of shuting down Pontiac over GMC after the money spent to bring the G8 to the US, the ongoing development of the Solstice, and the El Camino version of the G8, when they are getting into the position of being profitable. let's look at the line-up possibilities:

G8- V-6/G8 GT/GxP (3) (since retro is so popular why not Bonneville GT/GXP)(later GXP Coupe could be called the GTO/Grand Prix)
Solstice-Coupe/Convertible and GXP versions (4)
Firebird- Coupe and conv. (3)(variations of the Camaro, shares the engineering costs and may be the one that puts Pontiac in the black)
G6- next generation could be a variation of the 2010 LaCrosse, could also be called, dare I say it Catalina.
Torrent- next generation version could be a variation of the of the next generation Enclave...

So the posibilities are there with shared development cost. When GM returns to profitability, as everyone, including the government thinks it will, this would be a great and profitable line-up as opposed to 3 Buick sedans and a cross-over, all front wheel drive, with the LaCrosse being the biggest, who's going to buy old technology???...

Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

I realized I never posted...

I have an '09 GT with Premium and Sport packages in Pacific Slate with Onyx leather. Actually traded a 4 month old '09 Malibu 2LT V6 in for it that was great in some ways and had issues in others, some just with my comfort.

But regardless. Live in Delaware, bought the G8 in Jersey and before delivery had the rear windows (to stay legal) to 20%, the GM cargo liner installed, and a full clear bra installed on the nose. Love, love, love the car and absolutely no issues other than initially having to get my XM reflashed (the car sat so long, it de-activated) and the alignment checked. This was it shortly after picking it up, in February:

Since then, lots of little things and one big one has changed. Dealer sticker is gone (of course), Holden rubber floor mats from Oz, a GM dimming rearview mirror, it's been tuned for 93 octane with both new ECM and TCM programs, and after a few different ones, has a Roto-Fab cold air intake & aluminum radiator cover.

The tune and intake made great changes, then just a week ago, bigger stuff. There's a lot of naturally weak bushing and other spots in the G8 suspension--it's an incredible basis, just always room for improvement of course--and at first I was just going to have the basic bushings done. Then, well, you know. Pedders from Australia is essentially the leading suspension everything for this car and many others, and offer a total package of either basics or everything that all work together. So, to also tighten up the sometimes soft handling and sharpen up some soggy damping, Pedders sport coils with a slight drop and new struts & shocks came to be. Right now just the springs are in, as the dampers were backordered, but all will be together soon...still feels and looks great in the meantime.

SO...that's mine, after, oh, 3.5 months and 4k miles

Just picked up a 09 G8 GT for MRSSHADAMS last night. Traded in her 07 CC Sierra Magnetic Gray with sport package, 19" wheels, etc. Sweet car for sure. Oh, and 28.9 MPG on the DIC when I got home...

Awesome. Who'd a thunk it...6.0L underhood and such good mileage

Nice trade, for sure. Similar powertrain now, but in a beast of a car instead. I love mine like nothing else.

I'm loving it, too. It's quite a difference, after driving trucks for a long time.

^^^ Great combination of vehicles there.

Here is my G8 GT, now with some window tint. It is the max I can get and be legal in Alabama. 32% (30% actually).
