Smile Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

Pontiac G8 Owners Club

With an ever growing number of American's purchasing the greatest product GM has on offer, the Holden Commodore-based Pontiac G8, I thought it was about time we started a thread dedicated to the G8 where owners can share their pride and joy with the rest of our members. Pictures, videos and stories are all welcome. Enjoy.

Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

I am sure this thread will grow over the coming months. Two weeks and day of ownership and loving it. I am actually TDY in Arizona right now and miss my new baby. Can't wait to get home to the family and the G8 GT.

Here she is! 6-speed, no roof. Believe it or not I just switched off the traction control for the first time the other day (got the car a couple of weeks ago) - Whoa! better flip that back on or I'll be buying tires before too long.

Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

I will get some interior shots up soon. I have let a few co-workers drive it (gently) to get the word out about the vehicle. Word of mouth definitely helps. Some first hand experience is even better.

Because I have spent two weeks away from the vehicle I am just now getting comfortable with the radio and unique ergonomics. I am waiting until at least 500 miles until I engage cruise control.

I got my Weather Tech mats in yesterday. A full size spare, tint, splash guards, and bug deflector are all planned within the next year. Reverse sensor accessory will be had at some point too. Do not know if they offer Sport Red Metallic color yet for the sensor system.

I look forward to driving it everyday.

Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring ...

About 2 weeks ago I purchased a 2009 MGM Pontiac G8 GT with the cloth interior. The L76 engine makes me look forward to going (to and from) work once again!

It's such a blast to drive, it looks somewhat like a *******-child of a Grand Prix and a BMW car, but the fit-and-finish and RWD are top notch, at least as compared to previous Pontiac's that I have owned.

Here's a few pics...

Zepcom, Wecome to GMI. Great car too. I love mine.

How could you possibly own a RWD in the snow belt. Do meteors fall from the sky when you drive by?

Honestly, I'm planning on getting some winter tires and rims in the fall. One thing about the Northeast (I have lived in Charlotte, NC for a few years in comparison) is that people who live in the snowbelt actually know how to drive in it, and it's a normal part of the season. In contrast, my experiences in Charlotte, where it snows once or twice a year on average, people either bought all available bread and milk from the stores the week prior and stayed home for a week (as in, everything shut down!) -- or they are in the ditch somewhere.

Honestly though, we had snow on my way into work yesterday (I know, snow in April SUCKS!) and I was pleasantly suprised at the control that the ESP and TC allowed me. Definately several generations in technology beyond the 2001 Grand Prix GT that I had traded in on this G8. Color me impressed!

Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

^^^ I grew up in Rhode Island. My 1973 Dodge Dart and 1979 Chrysler LeBaron from my teen years in the late 80s got me through the snow just fine.

Here in Alabama driving in the rain can be fatal for those who do not realize that you must adapt your driving habits to the current environmental condition.

I plan on replacing the Potenzas with all season Eagle GTs when they wear out.

Re: Pontiac G8 Owners Club - Share Your Pride & Joy With Us

I went to the dealership and picked up a cargo liner (trunk liner). I had to do some highway driving to get there and found out a couple of things. You are at almost 100 MPH before the car "feels" like it is going fast. You really need to keep your eyes scanning the speedometer or you will be in trouble. I love this car.

The dealership had one black base G8 on the lot and about four G8 GTs.

Oh and two supersweet G3s! Woohoo.
