Pontiac G8 is another flop for GM

At a very large dealership in Orange County, CA Pontiac G8 V6s are selling for $22,740. The ones with the V8s are going for $23,900. Absolutely no way GM is making a dime off these cars.

At 24K, that car is a steal.

I haven't even sat in the car yet - but I do like the way is looks - and it's got plenty of power (in the V8). If I weren't so into luxury cars, I'd be seriously giving it thought.

I think the problem is - Pontiac is very low on people's "want" lists....

Re: Pontiac G8 is another flop for GM

It's a nice car, but you can feel every last pound of it when you turn the wheel. Even on the GT with the 19"wheel performance package.

Sales have been decreasing every month since it's intro. Like I said, nice car, but it's timing to market could not have been worse. I doubt it will outsell the GTO now.

GM had better pull all the stops and get cracking on Alpha, STAT!!

Really? I've seen about 5 G8's on the road already.

I have felt it looks outdated and bland from the beginning.

If gas keeps going down, I imagine that will help a little.

Yeah, I am going to have to call bravo sierra on you, there is no way they are selling them for that price.

We can't hardly get any in stock up here and when we do they are all going for 2000-3000 over MSRP.

Show us some proof

Several G8 GTs on the road here in Huntsville. They look great. If that is the only Zeta sedan we get, then I will consider purchasing one pretty seriously next time around.

Haha, you really want to get embarrassed smart guy?

The V8 was advertised last week so I don't have a pic. Here's the V6.

Re: Pontiac G8 is another flop for GM

I Think The G8 Will Sell,i Saw One Today Here In Ny,queens. It Is A Nice Car And I Would Have Bought One If The Dealer In Ct Would Have Treated Me Like A Customer Instead Of Some One To Throw Into One Of Their Pedestrian Vehicles Because They Wanted To Move Their 07's. Conversly,i Went To A Bmw Dealer On A Whim And Walked Out The Same Day With A 325xi. I Was Treated With Respect And An Understanding For The Kind Of Cars That I Like. Pontiac's Next Mistake Is To Put A Pontiac Badge On What Obviously Should Be A Chevy El Camino. When Is Gm Gonna Realize That Pontiac Does Not Have The Potential To Be A Performance Division Like Chevy Does.

Screw the G8, I want that Sierra Crew Cab. $19k? That's a steal right there!
And I've seen two G8s so far, both GT models. Both of my Pontiac dealers have a few in stock, all GTs.
Plus, when will people learn that the G8 was never meant to be a volume seller?

For decades the Grand Prix WAS a volume seller. Why take an icon and turn it into an anonymous, poor selling niche car?

If you bothered to read the fine print, GM is only giving $1500 cash back plus $1000 loyalty. The rest is dealer discount. And don't forget that lovely tagline "Only 1 at this price" I guarantee they have already "sold" that car by the time you get to the lot.
