Re: My ideal Pontiac lineup (Update 13)

Lineup looks good, American Revolution. I just saw the first post and your updated lineup.

The only thing I am not sure about is that the Soltice is going Alpha, so that leaves 3 Alpha vehicles to Pontiac. I don't have anything against that either.

Maybe Pontiac and the PBG dealers can use a front drive sport compact like the Misubishi Eclipse and Toyota Celica. Granted, those examples are lame, but what does the Celica and Eclipse have that the G5doesn't have other than wild styling? The Celica and Eclipse sell like hotcakes because car guys are not the only ones that make the decisions...we have to accept that.

The G5 can use all the cobalt mechanicals, but it can have the most extreme styling in all of GM's and Pontiac's lineup to play on those strange urges from strange people.

Re: My ideal Pontiac lineup (Update 13)

Maybe I should give it a try....here we go:

Bantam - Compact alpha G5 replacement. Starting price 16k

Ventura - Mid-size alpha G6 replacement. Starting price 19k

Tempest/GTO - Full-size zeta sedan/coupe. Starting price 25k

Firebird/Trans Am
- Mid-size alpha ponycar. Starting price 20k

Solstice - Compact alpha sports car. Starting price 22k

Banshee
- Supercar, perhaps mid-engine to avoid overlap with the Corvette and XLR. Starting price 40k

All cars should be RWD with optional AWD (for the snowbelt states, and those who prefer AWD grip).

See, but with a sporty Cobalt SS and the Astra, we already have 2 FWD sport compacts. I say leave it at two. Let Pontiac be different.

Re: My ideal Pontiac lineup (Update 13)

G8
With the CTS switching to Zeta these two share wheelbases. The top sedan at Pontiac really shows the performance of the brand.
SE 3.2 DI 275 HP more power and mileage.
GT 5.3 DI 375 HP same as above
GXP 6.2 DI 475 HP no need for gas guzzler tax now
Wheelbase lengthened to 115.5 inches to allow more breathing room for the G6. The coupe is the GTO only with V8 engines (concept 60)
Starting Price $28,095

G6
Shares its platform with the BTS so it is a few inches shorter than the current sedan at 186". Base engine is not a powermonster to save gas.
SE 1.8T 200 HP
GT 2.8T 280 HP
GXP 3.6T 350 HP
Moves to Alpha wheelbase shrinks to 110.5 inches but is wider. Coupe version to be called Firebird with the 4.9 DI V8 at the top.
Starts at $21,195

G4
This is the entry point to RWD for GM and it should make an impression on Pontiac buyers. The SE has a small efficient but powerful engine to help allow it to be RWD. Shares its platform size with the ATS.
SE 1.4T 160 HP
GT 1.8T 230 HP
GXP 2.0T 300 HP
Also on Alpha but the SWB and narrow body style 105 inch wheelbase. sedan, coupe, and hatch.
Starts at $16,995

Solstice
GT 1.8T 230 HP
GXP 2.0T 300 HP
Upgrade the interior
Starts at $19,995

Safari
SE 2.0T 220 HP
GT 2.8T 280 HP
GXP 3.6T 350 HP
G6 wagon Based AWD Suv raise ground clearance 1 inch and the roof another 2 inches shorten the front and rear by a few inches.
Starts at $26,495

Does the Safari fit with the performance image of Pontiac? I think it does because it does no have a china 3400 with 185 horses but rather some strong engines.
