Re: Father's New Solstice!!! (56k warning)

Pfft, the automatics are just as good as manuals in sports cars!
Try taking advantage of the stall converter, im sure you can do a burn out then. :-) You should be able to do a launch at around 2800RPMS.... Do it fast and you shouldnt have to worry about heating up the transmission.

Sigh.....It's a pity GM wont build a RHD model for the parts of the globe that drive on the other side of the road.

Re: Father's New Solstice!!! (56k warning)

Cool car! The practical side of me is starting to think that my quest for a new Corvette sometime next year as a new car is not feasible. It sure would be more cost effective to go with a Solstice, especially since transaction prices will probably drop next year and I have a nice chunk of change ($3600) in GM Card earnings on the old card with no redemption limit.

I'm about 6'4" 190...think I'll have any problems fitting into one with the top up? I heard Bob Lutz fits in them, and he's about my size. I've only ever sat in a Sol/Sky at auto shows, and they had the top down.

Yeah, it will be a tight fit for you. When you sat in one at the auto show was the top of your head above the windshield?

I sort of think it might have been above the windshield a little. My solution in the past for low-headroom cars has been to recline the seat a little bit.

I mean, if I ever did buy one, of course I'd drive it top up and top down to be sure the fit was comfortable. But it's nice to know that if I'm lusting after/saving for a car, that I could actually fit into it too.

The last car that I drove that I barely fit into was a first-generation Miata about a dozen years ago. I did manage to fit into it and actually drive it, but the fit was tight and it was too small of a car for me to actually own.

Like I said a long time ago, lol, my father didn't like where the clutch was placed in relation to the brake petal in the car, so he went with the auto. But hey, at least he has one.

True, I'd kill for an auto solstice right now. I'm stuck with a truck and bored at work, so I figured I'd read up on other people having the fun I can't have, yet.

LOL, I didn't mean it like that. My mother didn't want him to have one. She didn't feel he needed it. After about 3 months of sweet talking her she finally let him.

Re: Father's New Solstice!!! (56k warning) (Update pic)

My father got the Solstice's windows tinted a couple of months back and I finally remembered to take a pic. It makes the car look 10x better IMO. Sorry, I only had my cell phone with me at the time to take the pic (I was at my parents lake house).
