Re: Father's New Solstice!!! (56k warning)

Sorry for pulling up an old thread, but I was able to finally drive the Solstice by myself today (in others words I finally got to see what it can do). The car definitely can go. The car hit 100 mph before I realized it and I actually wasn't trying to hit 100. Only bad thing, it can't smoke the tires, at least not on dry pavement. If it every rains here and my father lets me get the car dirty (he washed it today because it was a little dusty), I'll try wet pavement. O, and I found out the Solstice has 3 cup holders, it can only carry 2 people, but it has 3 cup holders, lol.

Take the traction off, I am sure you won't have a problem getting the rear tires to lose traction. Though most likely not enough for a cloud of smoke unless you throw on the parking brake.

Re: Father's New Solstice!!! (56k warning)

The front end has a 53-55 C1 Corvette-ishness about it, I've always been a fan.

They're very nice cars, enjoy.

A Pontiac dealer near here has one for $33k! $3k markup. It's not a GXP model either

I don't think the car has traction control does it??

Nope, not in Canada....

GM raised the starting MSRP to $22,115 this year. Add on A/C, auto trans, chrome wheels, suspension package, OnStar and a few other dealer installed options plus $3k markup and you have one expensive roadster. Basically, the dealer I went to was trying to price gouge by adding about $2k worth of stuff nobody wants and adding 3k on top of that.

My father paid 23k something for his and no it isn't fully loaded. The car never had a chance to sit on the lot, Daddy bought it right off the truck. I believe the 33k price though. My father looked at basically the same one at another dealership around Nashville and they wanted 28k for it. Imagine what the dealership would have wanted for a fully loaded one, or even better, a GXP one.

Yeah, I know. My father test drove a manual one but he didn't like how the clutch was so close to the brake (he said it was hard to press one without pressing the other). So, he decided on the auto. And yes, he has driven manual's before, the car he traded in for the Solstice was a manual.

Very nice, I'm jealous. I've driven a few of these, very nice cars.

If he threw on the parking brake he would be going anywhere at best and have destroyed brakes at worst...not a good idea in a RWD car.
