Canadians rejoice - GTO now legal

As of this week, used car buyers in Canada can import vehicles that do not meet previous Canadian bumper safety standards. Our more stringent bumper laws was the primary reason the 2004 - 2006 Pontiac GTO could not be licenced in Canada. But now it can, Hooray! Now I need you to help me decide, do I go for the 2006 GTO or the new Camaro. I will be selling my 2007 Avalanche LTZ (or trading it in).

Why are you trading your Avalanche? Personally, I would wait for the Camaro.

Says who? I haven't seen this. Anything goes after 15 years, but who's gonna want a 2004 Pontiac GTO in 2019?

$18K for '04s with ~40,000 miles to $28K for '08s with ~10,000 miles. Best bargains are probably the '04-'06s with ~20,000 miles for about $20-22K. Just a very quick search of California.

Re: Canadians rejoice - GTO now legal

So does this make that Mustang Corbra R from several years back with the picnic table bench seat wing on it legal too?

I hope but those Cobra Rs are ridiculously priced. Last I checked they were still in the 30 grand area.

EDIT: Just checked Riv.ca and the GTO ISN'T in the inadmissible column. It is true!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw one (or more likely a clone, it had the stupid wing) get it's doors blown off by an old 80s Mustang (obviously had some work done) last night an a little impromptu racetrack that was set up behind Ford's Essex Engine plant last night. It was pretty cool that they set it up. I guess the cops were ok with it too, but it was under the guise of filming a documentary, I heard. It's supposed to happen again at least once, but possibly a few more times this summer. That would be sweet!

That's actually pretty cool!

The car was most likely a clone, those Cobra R's would embarrass a regular Cobra in a straight line... lets not talk about corners! Plus, they only made a handful of the 'Terminators,' so prices will continue to be quite ridiculous for road-ready cars (most I have seen have been road racers).

I'm quite excited about having the possibility of bringing an '05 GTO over the border. I don't care if it looks like a jelly bean. It's a 400 hp jelly bean with a very nice interior and a great sound. I'm going to have to start saving my pennies.

It is not under the guise of anything. We are filming a documentary. I don't know where you got your information but it is totally wrong. The filming is INVITE only!

If you are interested in auditioning, please email Mike at meaclez@hotmail.com.

Thanks

I don't think my 20 second Reliant is star material just yet. I haven't found the motor I've been looking for, for it. And by guise, I meant I didn't notice any filming. I was in the parking lot with some friends. Some were racing, some were not. The mosquitoes were insane! We didn't stay long.

These are only casting calls. We had a few cameras out as well as our director of photography with his still camera. We saw quite a few cars were interested in for the final piece but the area is full of nice cars so we want to scout as much as possible for those cars that will make the scenes.
