Re: 2008 Pontiac Torrent GXP

Too bad the Torrent GXP didn't arrive sooner.....the model's days are numbered. The Torrent could have been something special if they didn't put the horrendous 3.4L engine in it. Now GM is cancelling a decent looking model due to poor sales.....gee, I wonder why? Poor fuel economy and performance and that STUPID rear shelf system to cut down cargo capacity practically in half made it a slug on the showroom floor! Why GM didn't start with the 3.5L engine in this model will always escape me.....Oops, I forgot, the beancounters run the show...thats why!

montrealvue,

I agree. Its about 2 years too late... but at least Pontiac/GM realize their mistake and hopefully these mistakes in the future can be avoided. It seems Pontiac is moving in the right direction.

You are right when the bean counters win out the consumer loses.

I must say, I checked this out when the auto show came to town and liked it, except it is a bit pricey for a warmed over 'Nox. At least they dumped the 3.4- what a thirsty, out-dated engine.

They didn't dump it... yet. It is still in the 'Nox/Torrent. This is just the performance variant of the models. The 3400 lives on for now.
