What tires? What size?
Yes, I run snows. Blizzak WS60 on the Soul, General Altimax studdable on the PT.
Once you've run them, you hate to be without them.

I've run four snow tires since 1989.
First on my '88 Caprice with limited-slip and then on my '99 Tahoe with limited-slip.
The model I use is Goodyear Eagle M+S. Those on the Caprice were H speed rated and those on the Tahoe are V speed rated.
They're installed on factory steel wheels and were balanced by a Hunter GSP9700. I typically run them from December 1 to March 31.
I know that the tire I use is old school - but only once have I needed help getting out of a stuck situation - so they work for me.

I just bought them last winter, and of course it was one of the warmest winters on record for Connecticut - didn't get a drop of snow. Put them on again a few weeks ago, the only storm we had was when I had the day off, so no need to go out. And this week they have the temps up in the 40's - no snow in sight. As crazy as this sounds, I want some snow to justify my snowtires!
The stock tires on my Malibu LTZ were horrendous in the snow - much worse that the Goodyear Eagle RS-A's that come on both of my Grand Prix GTP's and worse than the Goodyear Eagle GT-4's that came oun my '89 Cavalier z24.
I got Hankooks.... Can't tell you if they are good or bad.
Michelin Ice-X radials are FANTASTIC in the snow on my RWD Pontiac G8 GT.

I run Firestone Winterforce on the GMC Jimmy for VT winters. My Jimmy is 2wd but has posi which helps tremendously. The snow tires provide an extremely noticeable increase in traction, which translates to way better braking and turning as well as the obvious forward traction.
I've only been up in VT for 3 winters now, so these are the only snow tires I've owned, so I can't speak to comparisons with other brands.
I got the Firestone winterforce They are the stock size for Z24 rims 205/45/16s. I also am from ct and yeah last year we got no snow. Then this year the big storm we did get i didn't have to work and also didn't have the snow tires at the time.
This is my aunts driveway. I left me car on the top and walked down didn't trust it to get back up.

I thought J bodies were just about as good as snowmobiles
Man this reminds me of good ol GM...you can use "same ol GM" as you use "same ol Lions"
They are. My last cavalier was fine and made it up my aunts driveway with reg tires. Now i have snow tires on this new cavalier and so im waiting to see what the difference is now.
I use All Season BFG T/A Advantage on my stock 16s for the Impala. They do just fine in WI winters. I got all seasons because if something happens to my 18s, God willing it will not, but I have all seasons for whatever time I need. Plus we've had two very mild winters in a row now so it's nice.

Hehehe this is so funny, there is no snow there
I have some pirelli snowsports with studs in them. It worked OK the day we got 2 feet of snow in about 12 hours recently, many cars got stuck on the highways in random ways but I got home fine. With the low profile though they get "bumps" on the sidewall easily.
I have 4 Motomaster Snows from Crappy Tire on rims for the GA..will only take an hour to put them on...but since it rarely snows here, I just wait usually, until it does. If I go to altitude, then I put them on of course.
I will not drive the Dodge or the Escape in snow at sea level here; British Columbians use the roads here, and we all know what that means. (Port Mann Bridge, anyone?)

I have used both X-Ice and Alphin IIs on my cars for the past decade or so and they've been great. Well worth it when the weather gets crappy, and especially when it gets more icy. The Alpin IIs were wonderful for the CTS as the "all seasons" were useless unless my only intention was doing donuts or getting stuck. "All season" tires are for the seasons typically seen in Hawaii.

I've never gotten them, but then again, I never undestood Snow Tires sense of humor.....
