I'm no expert but to me it smells a little like insurance fraud. As he walked away from the truck, he didn't see it rolling beside him? Also when he went to go open the door, it looks as if he turned to look at the truck which by that point was headed for disaster. Oh well...glad nobody was hurt.

And what made him come back up out of the stairs?

It does seem fishy. I was expecting him to run and try to stop it, but then he left. But what do you tell your insurance company? "Uhhhh I was just parked there and the front end was caved in as if someone drove a brick wall into the truck...no, of course I didn't drive it into a brick wall, I wasn't even in it!"

Saw this the other night. I agree that there is something fishy going on. He obviously looked at the vehicle as it was rolling away, and then kept on his way into the stairwell.

When not on a large hill, I do. I can feel if the E-Brake is catching, if I feel a little iffy about it, then I'll throw it into gear.

I wonder if this guy thought he put the thing in park, and instead just shoved it into neutral, while not setting the parking brake. Odd to see somebody in a city setting with a manual truck.

Because I trust my parking brake. If it fails me, then I will have a reason to stop trusting it.

That looks very strange to me. He clearly looked back several times as it was rolling, he could have stopped it if he wanted to. My guess is he didnt.

Re: VIDEO: Tacoma Owner Learns to Use Parking Brake...The Hard Way

It's definitely strange. The good news is there may be one less tacoma mucking up our roadways.

EDIT: Maybe there was somebody he really didn't like at the bottom of the hill.
