bolt on aftermarket I prefer supercharging....builds fast and not as much boost at the top end to help keep the oem internals intact...and understressed..
Turbos for built internals but that means more money out of pocket.
Turbos for OEM setups especially with direct injection is very cool....
Obviously I dig the supercharger in the LS9 ZR1 as its an amazing powertrain ......
Next generation LT1 will eventually be supercharged in my opinion for packaging or so the rumor goes...and I'm sure it will be amazing.
For me it really depends on the car. I can go either way with my car and make big numbers with minimal impact on fuel economy. Personally I perfer N/A. The exhaust note isn't molested by turbines, and you really don't feel the effect of superchargers until higher up in the RPM range.
177 blower,on a 350 chevy v-8. Put a blower gauge on it, now stand on it, watch it go from vac to p.s.i and when it goes too 5lbs boost ,and the sound you get is--- unforgettable---w.o.t. My kind of music.
In a 1954 chevy p/u
It really depends on the purpose for the car, and the budget involved. Were I to be of unlimited funds I would want a high compression , direct injection, turbocharged engine.
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!
Ever since I've had my turbocharged 6.75 V8 I've neve looked back at natural aspiration. Wide powerband, massive power and smooth, quiet idle.
