Thank You for Scratching my Monte

Yesterday did not start out well. After going to 7:30am mass, I stopped into the local supermarket for some breakfast items. Not too many people at that time. My wife gives me grief because I always park the Monte 4 blocks away (in her judgement) to avoid parking lot dents. Well, this time I was alone and parked the car 1/2 way up the lot, went in and did my businees and drove home. As I was looking in the garage, an hour later, I noticed a suff mark on the passenger's side door. I hoped that it was just dirt from the previous days' rains butaninspectio showed the scuff to be scratches and that the black bump strip was scratched to reveal the white plastic. I didnot see it in the parking lot since I approached the car from the driver's side.
Somebody either doesn't know how to park hit the door or they drove a shopping cart along it. All I can say is that the person is a real P.O.S. for just leaving the scene.
I tried to use some rubbing compound and this minimized the scratches on the paint but the bump strip is a different story.

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

I really hate the vermin that do stuff like this.

If they'd just carelessly damage other peoples' property and walk away, who knows what else they're capable of.

Low life.

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

Yep...that stuff really torques me off. Someone must have let a shopping cart ram into my back bumper, as there's a nice deep gouge in it and I haven't hit anything. I covered it up the best I can, but it still shows in the right light. Worst thing was this happened less than a month after I got it...

I know all cars will get dings and scratches eventually, but it would be nice to go a couple months before getting bad ones...

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

I commiserate. The side of my G5 was keyed less than six months after I bought it in 2008. Now for the second year in a row I have been rear-ended while stopped at a light because some driver didn't think to drive a tad more slowly during the first snow day of the year.

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

i hate ready things like this. i just want to hit the person that dont have any care toward other peoples things. i dont care how much my friends bitch about me parking at the end of the parking lot. if there not driving then they cant say anything. when i park i try and park in a spot where someone can only park behind me or to 1 side of me and ill only park next to nice cars that people look like they take care off. when i had my cavalier a shopping cart his my headlight and broke it. the store had to pay for it.

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

I always park at the far end of the church lot forthe same reason and I approached the car, yesterday morning, from the passenger's side. I would have noticed it quickly.

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

Maybe it is time for a class action lawsuit against the makers and designers of shopping carts. If the padded the corners and edges of the shopping carts better vehicles would not get scratches or dented as much.

Can someone get in contact with some lawyers to see if they would take the case??

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

I know it sucks, but in the real world it happens. The other option is to never pull the car out of the garage.

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

It could be worse you could be coming home from Iraq or Afghanistan in a body bag or with no face or arms or a paraplegic that's what I think when stuff like that happens .

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

Sorry, but I read the title and I thought 'scratching your monte' was a euphomism similar to 'spanking your monkey'...

...so I thought that was a good thing...

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

...also meant to say that sucks. I have managed to inflict most of the dings in my wagon (other than the forklift driver who hit the raised tailgate when loading a minibike in the back) but my wife seems to come home with a new scrape in her Commodore every second week and none of them could be self inflicted judging on where they are.

Re: Thank You for Scratching my Monte

What pisses me off is that the person did not leave a note, wait around, ....probably did not give a crap. Years ago, when my son was playing youth soccer, we went to watch him play but, due to the cold weather, my wife opted to stay in the car. As she sat there, another youth game was going on in front ot the parking area and some 5-7 year olds were running around (obviously the siblings of the players and mom and pop were focusing on junior). Well, the little ones started to throw rocks and some were hitting a BMW sitting along side our van. When the driver returned, my wife told her of the happenings and pointed out the kids. The woman walked over tho the startled dads and from what my wife heard was "my insurance will take care of it" from one of the dads. Made his day.
