You can't post those photos. It's a copyright violation. We don't want GMI to get in trouble.

Re: Road & Track NEXT CAMARO!!!

I hope no one from DCX sees that drawing of a new Challenger, they might be dumb enough to build it. Yeesh, that thing is ugly enough to scare small children.

The Camaro drawings look real similar to others that have appeared in the past. If it does go retro, I'm split on whether it should emulate the '69 or the '70-'74 cars.

Add a more modern 4th gennish front end, or steal from Ferrari's 612.

Also, I would love to see circle tail lights on the next Camaro, so that you can see the brotherhood between Cobalt, Camaro and Corvette.
Round tail lights were used on early second generation Camaro's as well. So not only would that tie into the Cobalt and Corvette, but also with its own history. I'd love to see the Camaro come back, but GM will have to make sure they do it right. Otherwise, the backlash would be tremendous. They'll really have to nail the next Camaro.

That's one of the most subjective assessments I've ever seen, especially based on a drawing. I'm sure Mustang enthusiasts are shaking in their boots. The Mustang will sell what, 500,000+ by the time this thing comes out for an optimistic 2007 model year? Camaro: second place even when it does win the race.

When the Camaro finally comes back, who cares how many Mustangs are built? Why would ANYONE care about quantity over QUALITY, except for your old buddy Jac Nasser?

Re: Road & Track NEXT CAMARO!!!

The front end is weak, I like the rear shot and side profiles though. No hide away headlights please, that's TOO retro. It should be a modern design with retro cues.

And the Challenger is horrible!!!

Re: Road & Track NEXT CAMARO!!!

I gotta say, I dont really like the front end either. Then again, I'm not sure Chevy/GM should "follow" Ford by making this Camaro have a retro design anyway. I'd prefer they didn't I think, just because. I love the classic cars, but the newer retro design of them just leaves something missing, IMO. Like even the new mustang, I think it looks okay, but from some angles it's a little bloated. Also I don't like quite how high it sits. Someone on the Z06 website posted a pic of their new C6 next to a co-workers new Mustang GT, and it really accentuated that. Obviously a Corvette is a sleek and low car anyway, so the comparison isn't necissairly apples/apples, but the last F-bodies were pretty sleek and lowish compared to how high the butt end of the Mustang comes up etc. Like I said, I liked the origional styling cues, but am not all that fond of the compilation of them on the new Mustang. Everything is just in my opinion of course, and looks are highly subjective so I dont expect everyone to agree.

The article also says: since the camaros demise two years ago

At any rate, count me in on a new Camaro.

Retro or modern, either way.

Re: Road & Track NEXT CAMARO!!!

I hope that if the Camaro returns, it's not too retro. Keep the proportions of the first gen, maybe some cues, but please have a modern design language. You don't lead by copying, after all.

Re: Road & Track NEXT CAMARO!!!

Nice sketch hope this is what the new Camaro might look like. As far as competiton the Challenger sketch is just bad "not good". The Mustang may not look as agressive as the camaro sketch, but the Mustang is on the street's , and the Camaro is just a thought for the future. By the time the Camaro start's roaming the street's again a new, faster and better stang will be out.

Who cares about quantity? GM cares about quantity! Why else would have they built the Camaro back in the '60s to begin with? The Mustang was selling like crazy which directly prompted GM to compete and you think that has nothing to do with quantity? Oh well. I suppose it doesn't matter much anyway right now. Ford holds both quantity and quality with the Mustang since the next Camaro, as far as we know, exists as little more than a drawing on a drafting board in some GM office somewhere.

I agree on the tailights. I kinda liked the tailights on the 6th gen Celica Supra, the rest of the car, no, but I thought the taillights were very race inspired.

<I'm gonna bite my lip on dignifying the rest of this thread however.>

Re: Road & Track NEXT CAMARO!!!

Instead of 'pop-up' headlights, it would be cool if they were louvered. 3-4 louveres flip up slowly to reveal the headlights. That would be cool, if they keep the concealed headlights, that is. I would prefer the single large exposed headlight like on the '69. I think they were concealed in '70. I'm not too excited about the concealed headlights.
