Re: Review: 2006 VW Jetta
I went into a jetta today, it had a nice interior and a good overall look to it. The interior was well crafted with nice soft-to-the-touch plastics and leather for around 22gs or so. I think the styling is nice but looks more japanese than germanic. The old jetta in comparison had a more serious and german look to it. I think i liked the old interior design slightly more and i think the new style will take some time to grow on me.

Re: Review: 2006 VW Jetta
It's still overpriced and made in Mexico. I know a few people with Jetta IVs and they're good little cars, but the quality has come down from a place it was and the price has gone up. About two years ago I was thinking about a Jetta Wagon with the 1.9L TDi since it got 49mpg highway, had lots of torque and was built in Germany, but it was too small for me, and I would've wanted to spend another $5K in upgrades.

Re: Review: 2006 VW Jetta
Let's see, for 27 grand sticker I could get an itty bitty Jetta with known chronic quality problems, a base Avalon 3.5 with know chronic reliability, or a Lacross (whatever their middle model is) with the 3.8 and "quiet engineering." Hmmmmmmm
Looks like VW has hired a few layers of GM "management."

Re: Review: 2006 VW Jetta
I like the new Jetta, and the current one for that matter, but the price is just not worth it to me. If you can afford it be my guest, but I would much rather get a fully loaded Mazda 3, which rivals the just in interior design and materials. When comparing all compact vehices, I would say the 3 takes the number one spot in its own price range for what you get.

Re: Review: 2006 VW Jetta
I think that new Jetta is a pretty sweet ride. I hear a lot of horror stories, mostly electrical, about VWs. I am a Jetta owner myself, and I must say that I am a fan of these cars. However, if I had some money to throw around I would probably take the Passat over the new Jetta. I know they are in a different price range...but when you have $0 to buy a new car, that difference is not a factor.
