Oldsmobile snow plow

I don't know why it exists, but it does:

The engine sounds awful....but that is pretty impressive for a FWD car!

Re: Oldsmobile snow plow

Man that is amazing I wasn't expecting it to do that well. Front suspension isn't sagging that much either...should have seen the Z71 that I saw the other day...poor thing needs air lift bags

OH and in Lansing I recently saw an old school Subaru Loyale wagon with a little snowplow

Re: Oldsmobile snow plow

Well this looks legit. Good to know if I ever had the desire to throw a plow on the front of the Grand Prix, it is possible.

I was also expecting a SUV like the Bravada.

That was awesome.

That wasn't the engine, that was the lefting mechanism for the plow. I have to say, leave it to a newfie.

Re: Oldsmobile snow plow

I have to wonder if it's worth the work to outfit an Olds 88 with a plow in the first place. I've done 2 on my vehicles. One was HD and the other was medium duty. I used Timbrens on the front end of the HD application. This unit looks like a winch operated homeowner unit, so I doubt that it weighs more than 250lbs.

Re: Oldsmobile snow plow

Man, that exhaust sounds awesome!

Oh, and I guess he didn't want to buy a truck just for plowin', so he used a car that can carry people too.

I heard an engine...it sounds bad. And I heard the whine from the lift mechanism. Are you telling me the plow has a motor? I had assumed that the plow worked off of the vehicle's electrical system like a winch. Keep in mind, yeah, I'm from California.

I rewatched the video....and the sound I am talking about is the engine from the car. It sounds like a diesel.

Is that an electric lift on the plow?

Wonder what sort of I-beam supplemental front sub-frame he's got welded on.

Pretty kewl.

The old Chevy 60 degree V6s, including the 3100, tend to share that distinctive exhaust note
