Odd vehicle I've never seen before - VRG MV4

Parked in a handicapped space. It looks like a big black British taxicab. Has Honda door handles but also gives off a mild Nissan vibe. Anyone ever seen one before? I can't find anything online.

Here's a pic of the back

The more I look at it, it looks kind of like a rebodied Element.

    It's called a VPG MV-1 they are specialty/handicapped vehicles.

Very interesting, thanks! I see now how I misread the logo.

Looks like it also serves as a taxi:

I saw one of these. It seems to have a lot of Econoline parts, incl. a 4.6 L V8...

Saw one a few days ago too. They went out of their way to make sure it was extra ugly

After I got closer to it I realized the door handles that I thought were Element-ish are actually F150 door handles. Oops.

The grille looks like Econoline but it's too small to truly be based on that.

I've seen these in NYC where there are becoming more and more poupular for transporting people confined to wheelchairs. I have yet to see a Yellow Cab version of one, though. And yes, they are ugly (but functional).

funny you posted this because I saw one the other day and couldnt figure out what it was at all. I thought it said VR6 on the back and all my google searches brought up Volkswagen's..not sure how I found it though. Anyway, its a very interesting car.

Re: Odd vehicle I've never seen before - VRG MV4

About 5 years ago, VRG was set up at the NYIAS. They had an MV4 is yellow taxi guise and they said the cars would be available as yellow cabs by the end of that year. Soon thereafter, then-Mayor Bloomberg decided the Nissan NV200 would be the "official" taxi of NYC and that was the end of VRG as cabs.

Not knowing anything about it, it certainly looks like it would be a disaster at the pump; aerodynamics of a brick with a low end Ford V8. Not exactly a recipe for efficiency.
