Question I would like a list of the quietest cars on the maket.

My dad gave me something to look up as he wants his next car to be quiet. As in talk while driving quiet. I know the HHR he likes is pretty quiet as we test drove it and it surprised us. But could someone give me a list of quiet cars?

Buick LaCrosse, Buick Lucerne, Buick Enclave are all very quiet vehicles.

I can also tell you the Ford Freestyle is NOT a quiet vehicle, but a very good one.

Well that makes sense about the Buicks being quiet. But the Freestyle let me guess makes alot of mechanical noise right?

I agree with that list every Buick model is superb when it comes to a quiet ride.

Other vehicles that have a quiet smooth ride are...

Mercury Sable, Mercury Milan, Mercury Grand Marquis, Chevy Impala, Saturn Aura, Cadillac DTS & I hate to admit it but, the Toyota Avalon I rode in was quite quiet.

I'll toss in a vote for any of the electrical or hydrogen cell-based vehicles.

Pontiac G8. That thing is hybrid-silent.
New Malibu, the upcoming Buick LaX should be vault-like.

Re: I would like a list of the quietest cars on the maket.

Do you mean inside the cabin quiet or outside the car like engine noise as it passes by?

I know my 2.2L is really loud hearing it from the outside. Inside the car is really quiet, but the engine itself is makes a lot of noise. Maybe because the Malibu didn't come with those huge plastic engine covers like the HHR and the Cobalt does.

As far as engines go, the quietest will be the ones with a timing belt, but I don't think anyone would want to deal with that voluntarily.

I've been in a Town Car...aw man, from the backseat I'd describe it as the road being far away

I do know a recent test showed the Enclave to have the quietest cabin in its class and classes above it.

Depends. Some you hear a lot of wind noise or noise from the low resistance tires. The tire roar is sometimes deafening on hybrids. Typically cars with very little noised are engineered that way. Buick does it with their vehicles by mounting the windows differently, by cushioning parts differently, fixing the proportions to make them as silent as possible.
