I cant watch Bones anymore. The Toyota ads.

    Every Bones episode:

    [Characters are in the car.]

    Booth: "Whats that beep, bones?"

Bones: Its adaptive cruise control. The Prius blah blah blah detects blah blah blah. [Shoot to footage of Prius gauge cluster.] Its pretty neat.

Booth: So its smarter than our victim.

    Come on!!

Its not even subtle. The FBI guy used to have a Suburban and Bones used to have a Mercedes SL. The two people working in the lab now have a Sienna.

Its nauseating, and not just because they're bland balloons, but because of how blatant it is. I'm completely removed from the story.

I prefer the way GM placed the Cadillac CTS in "Burn Notice". It got a mention "Oh yeah thats my new car" and made several appearances. Nothing obnoxious.

I remember them doing the same thing in Alias for Ford. Once for the Mustang and another time for the Escape (hybrid if my memory serves). It was just as blatant.

    My favourite:

Blame the Keystone Cops -they started it.

Fringe started out with Chevys that had the badge removed and now everyone drives Fords and Lincolns. But they don't encroach on the story, like Bones seems to (never watched it).

This is my fave (from a movie, but same idea):

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire Uzzy.

I had the same issue with LOST. Everywhere you looked all you saw was the Darma logo. I'm just glad they cancelled that show.

It's just unfathomable that the FBI character drives a Toyota. I work across the street from the FBI HQ...they don't have any foreign-branded cars.

Show me the money and I will shove any Toyota product in my son's crib or his play pan.

This is North America. Everything or anything is for sale, if the price is right.

Back on topic: you just reminded me again not to even bother getting TV cable channels. We live without them since 2005 and I did not miss it once.

For me, as an European implant, the choice was easy, 5-6 hours time difference and lack of support for football (OK, let's call it soccer) took 99% of joy following the sports. None of most popular N. American sports ever caught my attention more than 10 minutes.

I thought FBI personnel only drove Crown Vics and the FBI Police drove Chargers.

It IS kinda ridiculous how they're doing so much marketing in movies and television shows. And it's really funny how an FBI agent is driving around in a Toyota instead of a domestic vehicle. The next thing you'll see is television shows and movies where police officers are driving around in Toyota Camrys (where the sensible gets sensational)... And just about every television show (including one of my old favorites, 24) has important characters driving around in a Toyota Prius (Harmony between man, nature and machine). :p

I dropped mine too. I miss "How Its Made" on the Science Channel and Ice Road Truckers, but overall I feel like I've lost nothing. With what I'd been paying each month for tuners and DVRs, I'm saving $1000 a year.

Now I use an antenna and Windows Media Center to record shows in HD.

    Yeah, it's pretty sickening...

Supposed federal agents 'tool'-ing around in Toyotas.

To me, marketing like this is some of that subtle Toyota arrogance that is meant to slap americans in the face.

Sure, it's veiled in marketing demographics, but it also serves to 'tell us exactly how american Toyota is whether we like it or not.'

Not to mention Booth drives a Toyota Sequoia which is completely out of place for the show .
    2004 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 RCLB , 4.3 liter v6 5 speed .
    1993 Ford F250HD 4x2 RCLB , 300 six cylinder C6 auto .
