Always loved the Mark III. So delicate and graceful looking compared to the bloated Mark IV's.
Gone but never forgotten:
1988 Ford Thunderbird Sport
1992 Mercury Sable GS
2004 Honda Accord LX
2007 Hyundai Sonata
Check the rocker panels....
I'm more of a Mark V guy...I'd have one if I wasn't into convertibles
'07 Subaru Forester 2.5X 5MT. Bought new. 164k miles. '05 Dodge Durango Limited Hemi AWD. Mom bought new. 90k miles. '74 Buick LeSabre Luxus convertible. 455/7.5L, Quadrajet, dual exhaust. '89 Buick Reatta. 3800 SII L67/F40 six speed swap to be completed someday.
'87 BMW K75. Pichler V1 fairing. '87 Kawasaki 650SX. '85 Bayliner Capri 1952. 3.0L OMC. Restored. '71 Chris Craft Coho 33'. Twin 327QA's. Basketcase but restoration in progress. '70? Amphicat 6x6 AATV. 13 hp Honda swap.
Although I love Mark III's, and this one is in relatively nice shape, if I were to collect one, I would prefer the high-backed seats of the '71 or the cone-shaped wheel covers of the '69 (with head restraints, of course.) In fact, my favorite is the '71 Mark III shown at this link and finished in Medium Ginger Moondust paint:
In my opinion, that's an even better example of a Lincoln Continental Mark III. The design of the Mark III was quite distinctive!
It is really weird that now we have gone full circle, from Mk III's being cool, to being totally garish and tacky, to now, back being cool again!
I think the Hummer H2 is now in tacky stage from its once coolness. By Mk III standards by 2040 they will be collectable again
loved the Mark III too
These awkward 1960's and 1970's cars are really growing on me here lately.
My fav is the 1972 Mark IV ... that year only, before they added the safety bumpers.
These were the last of the greats (personal luxo coupes).......soon you would see the Mark's luster gradually start to diminish with the Mark IV/T-Bird and Eldorado/Toronado inbreeding......
Anyone remember the 'Motor Trend: Classic' mag?? Still have the issue around here somewhere where they compared this with an Eldorado of the same vintage ......
When you turn your car on....does it return the favor?
'90 Lincoln Mark VII
'93 Ford Taurus GL
