What about heat-affected zone in the welds and of course cold-working and etc of the bent pieces?

Maybe it will still work correctly in an accident (i.e. not kill the occupants) but the same predictable deformation / energy absorption...

No worries, mate! Just put some pillows in the trunk!

I guess you didn't read the damaged panels get replaced part.

No one can tell from those pictures if the car should be totaled or not. Those that claim they know lack the necessary knowledge to make any statement about the vehicle's integrity.

Re: Got in an Accident, YAY!!!!** (with pics)

Yeah, my Mom was involved in a low speed rear ender in her 1996 Lumina a few years ago. The 90's Thunderbird (?) pretty much just drove under the car without damage. Though our plate number was spelled out in reverse on the Tbird's bumper, I was only nine but I distinctly remember that as I thought it was funny. My parents pocketed the insurance money and kept the car for like 10 more years.

Sorry about your Saab! I love 9-3s especially in red. I'd say yay for a wrecked Toyota but I actually, kinda, sorta like the Solara. It was vaguely interesting to look at, unlike the rest of the Toyota lineup. I saw it as a swoopy G6 coupe with a better interior.

Man, that really sucks, I'm sorry to hear about it!

Hopefully everything goes smoothly with the repairs, and I hope that everything works out alright with you, hopefully no injuries creep up...

Solara? That would be why I didn't recognise it. (I've never seen one )

Glad you got out reasonably well. How was the other driver?

P.S. +1 me for a write off if your rear doors can't open and close properly (look for impact marks in the door sills and surrounds). Always check this first vs. what they give back to you if they don't write it off.

This was gawd's way of telling you not to put those silly prancing Moose stickers on your car. My buddy has then on his Vula V70.

Glad you're OK. Too bad the car isn't. I would not want it back, personally.

Yes, your health is of the first concern and I am glad you did not receive injuries. Regarding your car, I wonder how the damage plays out in the future. Not so much the physical work that will be necessary (body parts, straightening any reusable parts,..) but the stigma that comes with having a vehicle that has been involved in a collision. CARFAX will undoubtedly have a record of the vehicle being involved. The insurance company will pay for the repair but the future loss of the vehicle's worth will still be there.

Re: Got in an Accident, YAY!!!!** (with pics)

update: the estimates range from 4k to 6k just for cosmetic damage. they say it could go higher when they start taking panels off. for the creases right now they are saying they can pull it out and paint. the floor pan on the bottom is tilted up. i hate that driver right now she should have gotten off the damn phone.

$4-6K for that? I got hit in the side in my explorer this morning and if that is costing that much I can only imagine what mine will cost.

Your Explorer got hit? And you were trying to get rid of it...hopefully they write it off and you get the Blue book value. Hope you're alright.
