Going Ford Again? Help!

Alright, so I have every intention of trading off my 2006 G6 GTP in the next couple of months. I was going to do it this month, but incentives slacked off so I suspect next month will be a flood of incentives to make up for it.

I was fairly set on buying a 2009 G8 GT. However I am starting to question that. Why? I don't really need a V8 powered sedan, plus it doesn't have all the features I want.

Now, I am tempted (very tempted) to go test drive a Ford Escape (of all things) and possibly order one. The price is awesome and it has all the features I want. I'd go for a Black Pearl FWD Limited V6 loaded with every possible option; SYNC, moonroof, ambient lighting, leather, heated seats, navigation, Sirius TravelLink, in-dash hard drive, etc.

Features is always my big thing, and the Escape is a damn good deal for those features. Loaded I can get it for about $25,500.00 and it stickers for well over $30K.

I think I've lost it...but I drive by the Ford dealership I buy from every day now so it is tempting me even more.

Re: Going Ford Again? Help!

You have lost it.

The Mariner is much nicer, and I think the same price.

Plus you get better service at Lincoln-Merc.

Shame on you.

Re: Going Ford Again? Help!

Again, why do you need two cars? I'm not judging (I have multiples). But why a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE SUV of all things? That's like buying a neutered dog for stud duty. Makes no sense... (I'm being a little hypocritical here, as I'd buy a FWD HYBRID Escape for the awesome fuel economy, and we already have an AWD SUV)

Buy what you like, but I'd just the same hold onto the G6 for a bit longer and wait to compare the Equinox to the Escape. Or the CTS Wagon.

Re: Going Ford Again? Help!

Have you seen the Saturn VUE XR? And why not save some money and go with a V6 powered G8?

Ford Escape? It's not for car guys, but you can get a pretty good deal one one. I'd get one with AWD, though.

The more I read about it, the more I think that it's a safe buy....but I'd still consider a Vue before buying an Escape.

BTW, what made you want to trade in the GTP so soon? That was an attractive year/bodystyle for the loaded G6s.

Re: Going Ford Again? Help!

Don't ask me for help. . . if anything I'll push you over to Ford further . . . .

While you are at it, check out the 2010 Mustang GT.

Get the Escape, or the Mariner, those things are AWSOME . . . .

Re: Going Ford Again? Help!

the escape made it on my short list. but look at the interior made me leave. I thought it was cheap. and at that time they were using the 4 speed.

After two months, every day with your Escape, you'll regret taking it over the G8. Every day with the G8, you'll thank Heavens you took it over the Escape. Remember my words!

If the kid has the money to have two new cars, I don't think the extra $10 per fill up is going to do him in.

How loaded is loaded, because there's a lot of SUVs that I would pick first?

Escape?

Buy a VUE or wait for the new 'Nox.

What is the G8 missing that you want?
