Re: GM Getting Hammered almost every night on Conan's Tonight Show

I haven't even read the thread yet, but I can already ask the question: is anyone seriously surprised that a now bankrupt company who's been idly sitting watching their marketshare erode in a linear way for 30+ years and just had their ass bailed out by the taxpayers to avoid liquidation is getting hammered? Of course GM is going to get hammered.

I can already tell, if you haven't figured for yourself, that it won't completely stop until the company quits sucking at the government's tit, if that ever happens.

So get used to it.

I'd like it if the humor could be in part based on reality. Does GM still have a major quality/lemon problem now in 2009? Let the jest be based in truth, not moldy old stereotypes.

Heck, I'd chuckle at a GM bankruptcy joke. It's when they rag on the quality that I roll my eyes.
Currently, GM has a tarnished quality image. That's reality. It'll take about a decade of good products to turn that around.

That's how it works for everyone: the J a ps went through it, and then the Koreans (who haven't even yet got through, BTW, even though it's been a quarter century since the Pony and Excel).

Of course, it's easier to avoid producing crap, but since you can't erase the past, you have to live with it. GM's just started its climbing back of the perception ladder, give it time.

I remember Conan saying a stupid joke about GM in the new Transformers movie, I hate Conan, hate him.

You'd have to pay me a lot of $$$ to watch that imbecile. He is about as unfunny as you can get.

Tonight has gone down a long, long way since Johnny Carson.
