Question Gas Treatment: Does it work?

Anyone here ever use STP gas treatment? Or any other type of gas treatment? Supposedly it keeps your intake clean, by getting rid of the deposits. It also mentions getting water out of your fuel lines.

I've used it the last 2 tanks I've filled up, makes a minor difference. It's suppose to improve fuel economy.

It's a complete waste of money. Most every name brand of gasoline includes detergents to accomplish exactly the same thing. If you have water in your fuel lines, then it's because the gasoline you purchased was contaminated. Some gas treatments can correct the water problem; but the real cure is to buy gasoline elsewhere from now on.

yeah, I throw one in once a year just so I won't say I didn't...
don't go crazy with them because they can harm the spark plugs (besides the waste of money)

I didn't pay for it, I got it from a friend of mine. I've only used it twice. I only buy my gas from BP, which supposedly they have very high standards.

Actually, a while back my engine was acting really weird. It idled so rough and badly you'd think it was a diesel. It also struggled to acclerate. I poured in some fuel injector cleaner (I think it was STP) with a full tank of gas and within a few miles it was running like new. Granted, it may have been some bad fuel making the engine run wierd but it was from one of the same places I usually get gas.

I also used STP Fuel Injector cleaner, it did help out my gas mileage some, and my car doesn't idle as rough anymore.
