For A Friend
Friend Trying to buy A 03' Corolla, base model, 6,500 usd. silver auto no pwr windows or doors. auto, cd stereo, cold a/c HOWEVER, the trunk Latch wont open the Trunk Nor The Key, Is this common? Of Course my friend will have a Mechanic Do A Visual On the Lift. And Perhaps A Carfax. It was originally 6,900.. worked down to 6500 cash...Your Thoughts? Any similar experiences?

Re: For A Friend
It's possible the cylinder is corroded up...
Try freeing up with PB Blaster, then IF it works...lube it with silicone paste, Mobil 1 oil or SuperLube... Be careful NOT to force the key...which is either made of brass or aluminum... On a Toyota, the new cylinder will come with new keys...which means another key. A good locksmith should be able to repin it to the original key...

Re: For A Friend
Pshh. Tell him to get a Cobalt. The corolla is about the most boring vehicle ever invented aside from the camry.

Re: For A Friend
Haha, that's true. But "OMGZZZ DON'T BUY THAT GO BUY THIS!" isn't exactly a helpful suggestion when you're asking a question about a trunk lock.
