Doors rusting on 80's Buick Regal

Hi

I have a 1987 Buick Grand National. Car is in great shape with the exception of some rust going through on the bottom of both doors. I know there no more doors or door skins available from GM. So will most likey have to go with a patch panel for a repair.

The question I have is, did GM ever put out any info or articles on this issue? I am doing a research paper on this topic as well. I googled the subject and got one hit on Hemmings Motor News. It referenced Dennis Kirban say the door sill weatherstrip dry rotting, allowing water to get through and collect at the bottom of the door. I am in need of a second article to help back up the reseach on my paper.

Can anyone here help me out?

Probably, sounds about right... do you have holes yet? Just sand the rust down and get rid of it now before it gets worse...

No holes yet! It's just starting to bubble up. Part of my research to interview different body shops to find out what they would do to repair it and what it would cost. Looking forward to that! I might stumble on to a good deal!
